Priority Pickups: Mo Williams runs the Wolves

OK, so the last Rubio replacement discussed around here did not fill the stat sheet quite as much as we'd hoped. But there's a new Wolves point to consider this week, and he's widely available...

PG Mo Williams, Min (20 percent owned)

Mo drew the start against the Knicks on Wednesday, delivering a stellar line: 14 points, 5-of-9 FGs, 2 threes, 13 dimes. Kevin Martin was scorching hot (37 points), and Williams fed him early, often and in rhythm. Check the postgame praise for Mo, from both Martin and head coach Flip Saunders:

“Big difference,” Martin said. “I think we saw that in the Dallas game. When Mo came in and got me going. … He’s just a veteran point guard in the backcourt with you. He knows your spots. He knows what you can do well out there after playing against you so many years. I give credit the last two games to Mo.”

Saunders concurred, using the same “big difference” phrase to describe the swap of starting point guards.

So it seems reasonable to expect more Mo and less LaVine. Over his last two games, Williams has played 60 minutes total, piling up 21 assists against only four turnovers. We know the 31-year-old can knock down threes, even if he's not shooting at a great clip this year. Give him a look if you have PG deficiencies. Remember, the recovery timeline for Rubio is weeks, not days. Minnesota hosts the Spurs on Friday, then gets a not-so-intimidating three-game week (Sac, Mil, at LAL).

C Alex Len, Pho (15 percent owned)

Len gave us back-to-back impressive games against the Clippers and Celtics, prior to Wednesday's not-so-impressive performance at Detroit (16 minutes, five fouls). The seven-footer put up 17 and 11 against L.A., then 19 and 7 at Boston (with a hilariously near-disastrous foul); if his minutes hold in the 25-29 range, he'll have fantasy utility. Len is shooting 60.0 percent from the field this season and 74.0 percent from the line, blocking shots at a respectable rate (1.7 per 36). It would certainly help if he didn't foul everything that moved. He'll face the Sixers and Pacers on Friday and Satruday, then gets a four-game slate next week.

PG/SG Rodney Stuckey, Ind (23 percent owned)

If you're looking simply for scoring, and you were late on the Swaggy P frenzy — at this point, Young is well over 50 percent owned — then give Stuckey a test-drive. He came out chucking in his return from injury (foot), going 5-for-13 in 26 minutes. I won't give you a hard-sell on Stuckey, because we're not talking about a multi-category asset here. But he's a willing (if not great) shooter tied to a scoring-challenged team. Indy gets four games next week.

SG Bojan Bogdanovic, Bkn (11 percent owned)

Also in the scoring-only mode, we present Bojan for your consideration. He's played 40-plus minutes in each of his last two games, scoring 22 and 19, draining four threes in each. (He attempted 11 threes against Milwaukee on Wednesday, in the many-OT game.) The issues here are limite category utility and a two-game week upcoming. Bojan plays a pair over the weekend, however (at OKC, at SA), so perhaps he can help in the near term.

PF/C Chris Kaman, Por (20 percent owned)

I feel as if I might be propping up Kaman's ownership percentage — like, it might be only 18 percent if you exclude my holdings. Not sure. When this guy is fully operational, giving us 18-22 minutes per night (as he is now), he's plenty useful. Kaman has scored double-digit points in five straight, averaging 7.6 boards and 1.8 blocks. Portland has six games over the next 10 days, and a string of four-game weeks upcoming.
