Injury Wrap: Falcons digging deep for another week

The weekly medical lap opens in the backfield, where the action is, and then we'll circle around the other positions. Please have your copay ready.

(If you came for the Rob Gronkowski welcome-back party, please click here.)

• Steven Jackson (hamstring) won't play Week 7 against Tampa Bay and remains week-to-week. Jacquizz Rodgers is the fill-in starter, Jason Snelling the change-of-pace back.

• DeMarco Murray (knee) is listed as doubtful, so forget him at Philadelphia. Joseph Randle is set to go in his spot, in part because Lance Dunbar (hamstring) isn't healthy, either.

• Arian Foster (various) had a full workout Friday and is considered probable for Week 7. Good luck against the Chiefs.

• Adrian Peterson (hamstring) didn't practice Friday, though there's no reason to suggest he won't go against the Giants on Monday night.

• Willis McGahee (knee) figures to start at Green Bay. He returned to practice Friday after missing the previous session.

• Joique Bell (ribs) missed some work this week and is iffy for Week 7. It's not the ideal time to get frisky with a play here.

• Shonn Greene (knee) might get back to work Sunday against San Francisco, though he's officially listed as questionable. He can't be much worse than Chris Johnson.

• Jonathan Stewart (ankle) might be back at practice next week, if you want a pipe dream to wish on. I'm not holding my breath on Stewart's comeback.

• Zac Stacy (chest) is listed as probable, though the sledding could be tough against Carolina's highly-regarded front seven.

• Brandon Bolden is expected to play through his sore knee, as he has been doing. He's listed as questionable.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

• Roddy White (ankle/hamstring) won't play Week 7, frustrating when you consider Atlanta just had a bye week. With Julio Jones out for the season, ordinary Harry Douglas becomes the team's No. 1 wideout. Matt Ryan has his work cut out for him.

• Calvin Johnson (knee) had a good week of practice and is considered probable. Go ahead and use him against Cincinnati.

• James Jones (knee) missed the full practice week, and although he's been given the questionable tag, it would be a shock if he played against Cleveland. If you need a sleeper here, Jarrett Boykin is the name to know.

• Andre Johnson (knee) was back at work Friday and is considered probable for Week 7. A shame the Texans don't have an established quarterback to deliver Johnson the ball.

• Cecil Shorts (clavicle) could be a game-time decision Sunday against San Diego, though he says he'll play. I'd be careful with Shorts for Week 7 - it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't play a full game.

• Greg Olsen (foot) should go against the Rams. He's listed as probable.

• Miles Austin (hamstring) is listed as probable, though he didn't practice much this week. If you need a reach play with the Cowboys, Terrance Williams makes more sense.

The Bills consider Stevie Johnson (back) probable for the divisional showdown in Miami. It's hard to trust Johnson as a WR3 these days; you probably have better options.

• Santonio Holmes (hamstring) isn't ready for the rematch against New England. Stephen Hill is the most intriguing of the New York wideouts.

• Mike Williams (hamstring) had a good week and is considered probable for the game at Atlanta.

• Martellus Bennett (knee) played through discomfort in Week 6's victory over New York, and he'll try to do the same at Washington. Nonetheless, he's listed as questionable.

• Danny Amendola (concussion) won't dress Sunday and is considered week-to-week. You know the drill with him. The Patriots should have Julian Edelman (thigh), though he's listed as questionable.

• Eddie Royal (toe) didn't practice Friday and is iffy for Sunday's game at Jacksonville. He's been passed in the team's pecking order anyway, with Keenan Allen jumping off the screen and Vincent Brown contributing.

• Anthony Fasano (knee/ankle) had a good week and is considered probable, not that he's good enough to start on spec. Make him show you some results first.

Get ready for a Marcedes Lewis sighting - he's carrying the probable tag for Sunday's home game against San Diego.

Quarterbacks

The Texans plan to start third-string quarterback Case Keenum at Kansas City. Matt Schaub is dealing with ankle and foot injuries; T.J. Yates is hitting the bench in factor of Keenum.

• Thad Lewis (foot) is ready to start again for the Bills. He had his moments in the overtime loss to Cincinnati.

• Michael Vick (hamstring) will be on the sidelines Sunday, watching Nick Foles play against Dallas.

• Jake Locker (hip) has an outside shot to play Sunday, though a Week 9 return (after the bye) seems more plausible.

• Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) took a few reps this week, but Chad Henne will start against San Diego.

• Josh Freeman makes his first start for the Vikings this week, getting the call Monday at New York. He can't be much worse than Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel.
