Injury Wrap: Marshawn Lynch out, along with several Bills

It’s not the ugliest injury report, that’s for sure. Let’s have a quick look around the Week 5 landscape.

• With Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) ruled out and Fred Jackson battling a bad ankle, it looks like Thomas Rawls will be Seattle’s feature back at Cincinnati.

• Buffalo is down all sorts of skill players for its trip to Tennessee. Running backs LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Karlos Williams (concussion) have already been ruled out, and it’s not looking too good for receiver Sammy Watkins, though he’s holding the questionable tag. Watkins did some limited work Friday after missing two two prior days. Anthony Dixon and Dan Herron are two running back candidates in the absence of McCoy and Williams.

• Andre Ellington (knee) is expected to return this week, though he’ll have to share with Chris Johnson. Rookie David Johnson drops to third string, and he’s in the Bruce Arians doghouse after a couple of costly mistakes (kickoff fumble, dropped touchdown pass) in Week 4.

• Julio Jones (toe/hamstring) had a partial week of practice and is listed as questionable, though context clues suggest he’ll go as expected against Washington. It’s an early game, so we’ll have pivot time if needed Sunday.

• Martavis Bryant is dealing with a sore knee, and it looks like the Steelers will keep him on the suspended list until Week 6.

• With Jordan Reed (concussion) out indefinitely, Derek Carrier is the likely tight end starter for Washington at Atlanta. DeSean Jackson (hamstring) is also out for Washington.

• It doesn’t look good for Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) or Eddie Royal (ankle), though neither is officially ruled out yet. Maybe Marquess Wilson will get volume at Kansas City.

• Davante Adams (ankle) hasn’t practiced all week, so ignore that questionable tag. He’s highly unlikely to play against the Rams, which pushes Ty Montgomery back into deeper relevance.

• Max Williams didn’t do much in the Week 4 victory at Pittsburgh, but given all the Baltimore injuries, he still holds some sleeper value. Crockett Gillmore (calf) has been ruled out, and of course Steve Smith (back) is unlikely to play.

• Eric Ebron (knee) won’t play for Detroit, though the Lions do get Brandon Pettigrew back at the tight end position. The Lions also have Tim Wright, who’s more of a jumbo-sized receiver.

• The Jaguars will probably wait another week on Julius Thomas (hand). If he does go Week 5, he’d likely be on a snap count. Marqise Lee (hamstring) is out for another week, as is Denard Robinson (knee).

• Malcom Floyd (concussion) had a full practice and is on pace to play Monday against Pittsburgh. It looks more ominous for Stevie Johnson (hamstring), who did not practice Friday. The Chargers expect to have Antonio Gates (post-suspension) back in the mix.

• Vernon Davis (knee) won’t play against the Giants, not that you want any part of the San Francisco passing game right now.

• If you’re in a two-quarterback or superflex league, note that Brian Hoyer has been named Houston’s starting quarterback going forward. This doesn’t mean a thing in standard pools, of course, but maybe Hoyer can be of use in the deeper leagues. Houston has some friendly matchups (Jacksonville, Miami, Tennessee) waiting on the schedule. Anything that keeps Ryan Mallett off the field is fine with me.
