Daily Dime: Kluber, Karns, Coors, a couple of Giants

Here are ten recommended DFS plays for Monday evening, and yes, Virginia, they collectively fit under the Yahoo Daily cap. Be sure to double-check on lineups and weather before you make your final commitments.

Corey Kluber, SP, at LAA (Richards), $48: After watching the Angels offense stumble around the last week (.194 average, 16 runs), I’ll take a stab with Kluber here. The Cleveland ace offers a very high floor - he’s gone seven innings or struck out seven men in eight consecutive turns.

Nate Karms, SP, at CHW (Quintana), $25: He’s had just one bad turn over his last eight, and if you hash it all together we’re looking at a 2.66 ERA. I have plenty of respect for Jose Quintana on the other side, though we also have to acknowledge the Rays hit southpaws pretty well. The cheap price on Karns will enable us to get some appealing bats into the lineup.

Mike Zunino, C, at COL (Butler), $11: It’s a punt-play at the most puntable position, and made more tolerable by the Coors Field backdrop. Zunino’s always going to be a swing-and-miss risk, but at least he had a 10-game hitting streak shortly after the break, and he homered last week. Maybe he can throw something into the Mile-High air.

Brandon Belt, 1B, at ATL (Foltynewicz), $18: His best results have come on the road this year (.856 OPS), and now he’s facing an inexperienced right-hander that’s handing away a .336/.379/.541 slash line to left-handed opponents.

Anthony Rendon, 2B, vs. ARI (Godley), $14: He collected five knocks in the New York series, including a homer and three hits Sunday night, so perhaps the body is starting to feel right. Rendon at his peak is a first-round player, so let’s enjoy this $14 tag while it’s still around.

Alexei Ramirez, SS, vs. TB (Karns), $14: After a messy first half, Ramirez has rallied nicely (.302/.338/.635, five homers, three steals); those numbers make him the No. 1 fantasy shortstop thus far in the second half. His career OPS is 62 points higher with the home cooking.

Evan Longoria, 3B, at CHW (Quintana), $17:

I’ve been over him for a few years now, but Mr. Team Friendly Contract still takes a worthy hack against lefties (.879 OPS). And taking some swings on the South Side of Chicago is generally a fun exercise.

Nori Aoki, OF, at ATL (Foltynewicz), $13: He steps into the No. 2 slot in the order with Joe Panik injured, and I expect the pesky Giants to have some fun with an experienced, inconsistent pitcher like Foltyniewicz.

Nelson Cruz, OF, at COL (Butler), $19: After watching him go 8-for-14 with three homers at the end of the Minnesota series, how can you not use him at Coors Field? I’ll cut corners elsewhere, thanks.

David Peralta, OF, at WAS (Fister), $11: It’s been an up-and-down season for Fister, one of those so-underrated-he’s-overrated guys. Peralta is a worthy play in the platoon advantage, where he slashes .287/.352/.515.
