Daily Dime: Going with Wacha, Eovaldi, Puig and Frazier

Daily Dime: Going with Wacha, Eovaldi, Puig and Frazier

Here are 10 DFS recommendations for Friday’s slate on Yahoo but be sure to double-check the weather and lineups before first pitch approaches.

Michael Wacha, SP, vs. Col (Kendrick), $46: He’s struggled of late but owns a 2.86 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP at home this season The Cardinals are among the most favored teams Friday, as high as -210 at some places, but there are seven pitchers priced higher than Wacha, so he seems like a value play.

[Friday Daily Fantasy contest: Turn $5 into $5K]

Nathan Eovaldi, SP, at CHW (Rodon), $25: He has a 2.83 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP over his past seven starts, when he’s allowed two runs or fewer in six of them (and just three in the other). Eovaldi has averaged the highest fastball velocity (96.3 mph) among all starting pitchers this season and is facing a White Sox team that’s scored the fewest runs in the American League despite playing in a home park that’s advantageous for hitters.

Buster Posey, C, at Tex (Martinez), $19: He has a 150 wRC+ this season. The next highest among catchers is 126. Posey rested Wednesday and the Giants were off Thursday, so it’s safe to expect him in the lineup Friday, hitting cleanup. Posey owns a .922 OPS on the road this year and continues to be reasonably priced despite being the clear leader at his position.

David Ortiz, 1B, vs. TB (Ramirez), $20: He’s hitting .275/.388/.551 with 17 homers over 236 at bats against right-handed batters this season and owns a .908 OPS at home.

Kolten Wong, 2B, vs. Col (Kendrick), $16: He has 10 homers and five steals with a .352 OBP vs. RHP this year and is reasonably priced compared to other second basemen. Kyle Kendrick has a .316 BAA and 1.78 WHIP when facing LHB this season.

Todd Frazier, 3B, vs. Pit (Locke), $17: He has a 1.011 OPS with 11 homers over 99 at bats against lefties this season to go along with a .317/.374/.678 line at home. Frazier has been the No. 5 fantasy hitter in 2015, and he also owns a career 1.322 OPS over 20 at bats against Jeff Locke.

Jed Lowrie, SS, vs. Ari (De La Rosa), $10: He’s back off the disabled list and is one of the better hitting shortstops in all of baseball, which this price doesn’t reflect.

Nelson Cruz, OF, at Min (Milone), $19: He’s hitting .376/.454/.694 with seven homers over 85 at bats against southpaws. Tommy Milone has served up 11 home runs over 51.1 innings when facing right-handed batters.

Will Venable, OF, at Mia (Phelps), $12: He’s usually hitting leadoff and has a combined 13 homers/steals over 215 at bats against RHP this season. Venable is very cheap here.

Yasiel Puig, OF, vs. LAA (Santiago), $16: He’s been a disappointment but still has a .942 OPS against lefties this season and has hit much better at home. Puig is facing Hector Santiago on Friday, a pitcher who’s yielded 12 homers over 82.0 innings against right-handed batters so far this season.
