Daily Dime: Billy Burns, various aces, LHBs from the Cards and Mets

Daily Dime: Billy Burns, various aces, LHBs from the Cards and Mets

No shortage of aces in action on Friday, gamers. Arrieta, Price, Keuchel, Archer, et al. Better find some low-cost bats in the bargain bin. We're not going to have a rain-free day, so we encourage you to monitor the MLB weather reports before finalizing lineups.

Billy Burns, OF, at Tex (Lewis), $13: Burns has strung together four straight multi-hit performances, and he's crossed the plate 17 times in his last 18 games. Lewis doesn't scare you off, right? He's allowed 18 runs (15 earned) over his last 15.2 innings. We just need the weather in Arlington to cooperate; storms are a possibility.

Prince Fielder, 1B, vs. Oak (Chavez), $11: Fielder hasn't hit for power lately — he's delivered just one XBH this month — and in fact he's been struggling to hit anything at all. But despite the slide, he's still managing to get himself on-base at a nice clip (.375 OBP in September). I'm trusting him against a right-handed starter in this one, because A) the price is so friendly for a hitter of his quality, and B) he has a terrific (if not extensive) history against Chavez: 5-for-9, double, HR, 3 BB.

Javier Baez, 2B, at Phi (Morgan), $10: Baez hit .333/.393/.556 against left-handed pitchers at Triple-A this season, and he's gone 2-for-4 in back-to-back games for the Cubs. Morgan, in case you hadn't noticed, is not exactly an unhittable lefty; he's allowed 19 hits and 13 runs (11 earned) over his last three starts.

Hank Conger, at LAA (Weaver), $8: As we've established over the course of the season, I like to shop in the junk-catcher market. Conger is coming off a 4-RBI performance, he's hitting .286 for the month and he's slashing .281/.361/.563 against RHPs for the season. He's obviously plenty familiar with the soft-tossing Weaver, too. If you're spending $100-plus on pitching on Friday, you'll need to find a spot or two for a near-minimum batter.

Cardinals LHBs, all positions, at Cin (Lorenzen), various prices: Jason Heyward and Matt Carpenter, come on down. Reds starter Michael Lorenzen has been crushed by left-handed hitters so far this year, allowing a .325/.435/.578 slash with 24 extra-base hits in 166 at-bats. You know what to do.

We've got a similar situation right here...

Mets LHBs, all positions, at Atl (Wisler), various prices: Matt Wisler has been hammered by LHBs, too. They're hitting a ridiculous .340/.436/.626 against him with nine homers in 147 at-bats. He's walked more left-handed batters than he's K'd (24 vs. 16). Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy, Curtis Granderson and Kelly Johnson are all in play on Friday.

Brandon Guyer, OF, vs. Bos (Miley), $10: Guyer went 2-for-5 on Wednesday, he has a nice-if-limited history against Miley (2-for-6, HR, 2 BBs), and, hey ... 10 bucks. That's all I had left to spend.
