Goals directly off a kickoff are rare in soccer, but last weekend Federico Leal, a 16-year-old forward with the Ottawa Fury FC's junior academy, performed the rare footy feat.

On the second-half kickoff of a game in Ottawa last Sunday while playing for the Fury in a Première ligue de soccer du Quebec reserve league match, Leal took a quick tap from a teammate and hit a half-field-length strike for a superb goal.

To quote a song that was popular around the time Leal was born in Colombia in 1999, before his family settled in Ottawa and became Canadian citizens: hey man, nice shot; nice shot, man.

The Fury side lost that game 2-1, but given that they're a developmental squad, Leal's beauitful boot was a nice building block for the rest of their season.
