Maybe I should just shorten this feature down to one sentence. What to watch? Anything Canadian women are taking part in. Particularly in the pool. There. I'm done.

Well, here are some more details.

Day 8 (August 13th):

Pen - NEE! Pen - NEE! Pen - NEE! The young legend hits the pool again on Day 8, trying to add to her total of four medals when she swims for Canada in the 4 x 100 medley. The team swims out of lane 5, scheduled for about 9:49 pm ET on Saturday night, on CBC. I understand that the hashtag #GetPennyDrakeTickets is trending. Personally, I think it ought to be #GetDrakePennyTickets. Heard this one the other day: What's Penny Oleksiak's favourite movie? Glengarry Glen Ross Why? She believes in the "ABC" credo. "Always be closing." Thanks to radio host Tom McConnell for that one. Penny ain't interested in no steak knives.

Ryan Cochrane - who's won silver and bronze in the 1,500 metre freestyle at previous Olympics, tries to complete the set when he competes in this event on Saturday night. 9:10 pm ET, on CBC.

We really swing into the track and field events now and the 100 metre sprints are always a big, big highlight. Especially with Jamaica's charismatic Usain Bolt on the prowl. Bolt is gold and I mean that in the entertainment sense and in the track sense. He's looking for his third straight Olympic title. Canada's Andre De Grasse is among those who would like to track him down and spoil the fun for Bolt. The heats go Saturday morning at 8:30 ET on Sportsnet. The final is Sunday night.

The Canadian women's eight rows for gold at the basin, weather permitting, of course. The rowing events have been plagued by winds and choppy waters on a couple of days this past week but if conditions are good, the women's eight gold medal row will start at about 10:25 am ET on CBC.

Now, who you gonna root for? Canada? Nah. I'm rooting for Canada. In women's beach volleyball, the nation's two duos square of against each other in a round of 16 match-up. Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley take on Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas. 11 am ET, on TSN. In men's beach volleyball, Canada's Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton meet the Netherlands in round of sixteen action as the competition gets whittled down towards the podium.

Canada's Brianne Theisen-Eaton looks to hit the podium in the heptathlon competition. Daytime coverage is on Sportsnet beginning at 8:30 am ET and nighttime coverage goes at 7:30 pm ET, on CBC. She stands sixth after four events were held on Friday.

After Rosie MacLennan's gold medal winning trampoline effort, Jason Burnett will attempt to make it a Canadian sweep when the men's event is held. 1 pm ET, on CBC.
