Pro soccer player takes the best bad dive ever in Ottawa (VIDEO)

The debate on diving in soccer is divisive.

Some say it's gamemanship and others say it demeans the sport. It is also much more endemic in the men's game than on the women's side, strangely enough. Regardless of where one falls in the diving discussion, all might be able to agree that Cody Miller, a defender with Indy Eleven in the North American Soccer League, committed the best bad dive you might see in an entire summer during a game in Ottawa on Sunday.

Ottawa Fury FC's Paulo Junior had just taken a pass from a teammate and flicked the ball over the oncoming Miller, who was moving up from his right back position. As Junior rushed to retrieve the ball, Miller feigned that he had been kicked in the head in an attempt to draw a foul and negate Fury's push forward. The referees were not fooled, but nor did they call a yellow card for the embellishment for the "embarrassing behaviour." Don't worry, though; Miller did get two yellows and was thus ejected in the 89th minute.

Not. Even. Close.

It almost becomes comical when one looks at a skein of screengrabs from the clip that Fury FC, which won the game 4-2 by the margin of two goals from Richie Ryan, posted to YouTube.

Miller's face still seems okay.

And it's time to sell the fake.

Well, you cannot fault someone for trying. Miller and his Indy teammates had a rough day all around, what with the four goals allowed on the road.
