Milos Raonic pulls out of next tournament in Florida, the adductor injury from Australia still an issue

Milos Raonic will have to wait a bit to follow up on the momentum he created during the Australian summer swing, culminating in a semi-final effort at the Australian Open.

The right adductor issue that visibly hampered him during his devastating loss to Andy Murray in the semi-finals appears to still be an issue, and the 25-year-old has pulled out of his next scheduled tournament in Delray Beach, Fla.

The tournament had already scheduled Raonic Tuesday night for opening match, wrapping a special promotion for Canadian fans around it. Until tomorrow, entering a special code for online ticket purchases entitled the buyer to a 20 per cent discount.

Instead, the event will feature the return of 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro on Tuesday night. Del Potro, who has had multiple wrist surgeries over the last couple of years, is making his official return at the tournament.

The Argentine played just four Tour events in 2014, and just two in 2015; his last match came in Miami last March, a straight-sets loss to Canadian Vasek Popsisil.

Raonic was also scheduled to take part in the NBA celebrity game Friday in Toronto, part of the all-star festivities.

The Canadian's next scheduled event is another ATP Tour stop in Acapulco, followed by a tough Davis Cup World Group first-round encounter with France on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.
