The Impact struggling to score is nothing new, but it was a bit of a surprise to also see Vancouver kept off the scoresheet on Saturday.

Here's a closer look at how Canada's MLS teams fared in Week 6.

Houston Dynamo 3 - Montreal Impact 0

1. Role reversal

Last year, Montreal was used to playing without the ball, ranking 17th in MLS in possession at 46.9%. That wasn't the case on Saturday night as the Impact controlled 66.5% of play, yet they couldn't score and conceded three times against a Houston team that had two goals in their previous five games.

"There were moments when our decision-making was not there even though we had a lot of possession," said Impact head coach Frank Klopas. "We had a lot of the ball and had some good chances, but the final pass in the final third just was not there."

2. Adding to the mix

Andres Romero, Donny Toia, and Jack McInerney all had opportunities in the first half to put the Impact on the board, but didn't convert. Montreal also had 10 corners and still couldn't solve Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric. Realizing they needed to augment their attacking options, the club announced Sunday they had picked up veteran striker Kenny Cooper, who has scored 75 goals in 210 MLS games.

3. CONCACAF final looms

Having earned just two points from their first four games, Montreal sits in last place in the Eastern Conference. They won't have the chance to move up for awhile either, as their next MLS match isn't until May 9. That's because the Impact are taking part in the CONCACAF Champions League final against Mexican side Club America The two-legged affair kicks off Apr. 22 at the famous Azteca Stadium in Mexico City with the return leg on Apr. 29 at Montreal's Olympic Stadium.

San Jose Earthquakes 1 - Vancouver Whitecaps 0

1. No offence

For the first time this season the Whitecaps were shutout. In fact, they didn't even register a shot on target against San Jose. It was easily Octavio Rivero's most frustrating game in MLS, as he struggled to gain possession and didn't get anywhere near the service from the wing or from midfield that he's been accustomed to over the last six weeks. The 1-0 loss ended Vancouver's unbeaten run at five games.

2. Morales sent off

A rush to Pedro Morales' head saw the Whitecaps' captain dismissed in the 88th minute for kicking out at San Jose’s Adam Jahn. It capped off an undisciplined evening for Vancouver, with five players also receiving yellow cards. Fortunately for the Whitecaps, it appears Morales stands a chance to have the automatic one-game suspension that comes with the red card rescinded.

3. No rest for the weary

Saturday's game was the third game in eight days for Vancouver and it showed. They lacked a creative edge all match long, and they'll need to get it back in a hurry. Coming up next Saturday is a visit to Real Salt Lake's Rio Tinto Stadium, which is always a tough place to play.
