Canadian tennis star Genie Bouchard needs tennis matches as she returns from her 2015 concussion – a return that began promisingly in Australia – but her post-Australian Open schedule hasn't been much help in that regard.

In the wake of her decision not to play Fed Cup for Canada this weekend in Quebec City, the 21-year-old has also pulled out of the Rio Open in Brazil, which will take place the week of Feb. 15.

The Rio Open tournament website is going to have to make a quick update, now that Bouchard has withdrawn from the event.

As of Friday, she is still officially entered in another small WTA Tour event in Malaysia the week after that.

No specific reason was given and there doesn't appear to be an injury, although Bouchard did Tweet about having a cold. There certainly are concerns about traveling to Brazil these days, with the threat of the Zika virus.

The Rio Open's official Twitter stated that Bouchard "has decided to train a bit more before returning to play."

Bouchard would have been the No. 1 seed at the clay-court event, the only player other than home-country No. 1 Teliana Pereira even in ranked in the top 50. Therefore, it would have been a good occasion to get matches under her belt without having to face a top player early on, as she did at the Australian Open in losing to No. 4 seed Agnieszka Radwanska in the second round.

The Canadian's attendance record in headlining smaller events is spotty, at best. Over the last two years (not counting her post-concussion commitments, obviously) she has withdrawn from various tournaments at the last minute, to the dismay of the organizers. Those included Hong Kong in 2014, and Monterrey last winter.

In the meantime, Bouchard has added a tattoo to the edgy undercut hairdo she premiered a week ago. No word on whether it's temporary or for life, though.

When she does return to action, she'll have a whole new look.
