Drake is reportedly helping TFC recruit players, including Jermaine Defoe and Samuel Eto’o?

Canadian rapper Drake is apparently out to help more Toronto teams than just the Raptors. Drake agreed to become the Raptors' "global ambassador" earlier this year, is a regular fixture courtside and has already put out a commercial for the team, and now it seems he's extending his influence to another Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment -property—Toronto FC. The Toronto-based rapper is reportedly trying to convince foreign stars to join TFC, and given that the club's going after some well-known targets (including Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe, who they may or may not have already struck a deal for), he may be hanging out with some big names:

How much influence can Drake have? Well, he has sold over 5 million records worldwide, and he seems to be popular in the athletic world, earning shoutouts from everyone from Johnny Manziel to John Calipari. Who knows whether Defoe and other top TFC targets, including Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o, are fans of Drake, but the guy is one of Toronto's most prominent celebrities, so having him on side certainly can't hurt. Maybe other Toronto teams will follow suit, too. Drake could start recruiting some big-name NHL free agents to go play for the Maple Leafs next summer, and even before that, the CFL's free-agent deadline is coming up in February, so he might be able to give the Argonauts a hand. Toronto FC might be the best fit for Drake, though. After all, they started from the bottom too, entering MLS as an expansion franchise in 2007. Unlike Drake, however, following a seventh-straight season of missing at the playoffs, they're still at the bottom...
