Blue Jays' potential spring training home renovations revealed in video

(Tampa Bay Times)

The Blue Jays are hoping their remodeled spring training home will look as good in 2019 as the proposed improvements for the stadium look on the big screen.

City of Dunedin officials unveiled a video at a pubic meeting Monday that shows a sparkling new version of Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, which is in desperate need of a makeover. Notable fan amenity upgrades and add-ons include bars, picnic areas, a playground, a giant team store, and 3,000 more seats.

The organization's wish to be able to combine their Florida ballpark with a top-level training facility, however, is not possible due to land limitations near the stadium. Instead, the nearby Englebert Complex will also undergo extensive renovations as Toronto's current setup is woefully under-par for a major-league club.

The Blue Jays and the city are still working through details on an $81 million deal that would keep the team in Dunedin for another 25 years, with the current deal set to expire in 2017. The agreement is expected to be finalized next summer and the timeline is for the renovated Florida Auto Exchange Stadium to be completed for the start of the 2019 season.
