Video: Marcus Henry’s catch Friday provided one of the season’s best highlights so far

The Edmonton Eskimos may have come up short in Friday's 30-29 loss to Hamilton, likely increasing the pressure on head coach Kavis Reed, but at least they provided the play of the night. That came with just over five minutes left in the fourth quarter, with Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly trying to lead his team back from a 27-15 deficit. Reilly drove the Eskimos down to the Hamilton eight-yard line, setting up a first-and-goal situation, and then he dropped back to throw, but delivered a ball that looked too high for receiver Marcus Henry. Henry had other ideas, though:

That's one of the best catches we've seen all year, and it comes off an incredible play by Henry to elevate and haul that ball in. That's especially remarkable considering that he was being tightly covered by Ticats' defensive back Arthur Hobbs. What's really impressive is how Henry's able to hang on for the catch despite landing awkwardly on his neck and head, though. This easily could have been a dropped ball and a frightening injury. Instead, it was a touchdown Henry was able to get up and celebrate, and one that drove the assembled crowd in Edmonton wild. Here's another angle on it from a fan in the stands. Henry's play wasn't enough to lead the Eskimos to victory Friday, but he helped them get extremely close, and they only lost in the end when Grant Shaw's 50-yard field goal at the buzzer sailed just wide. While there's still plenty for Edmonton fans to be discouraged about in the wake of this loss, they can take heart from Henry's play, and hope it signals increased production from him going forward. On the year, the third-year man out of Kansas has just seven catches for 110 yards and this touchdown. This grab showed what he's capable of, though, and it may suggest there are more highlights to come from him this year.
