The Saskatchewan Roughriders picked up their second win of the year Sunday thanks to their defence, and linebacker Macho Harris was crucial to that victory. Harris had three of the Riders' four interceptions on the day, including a pick-six, which was remarkable as he'd never had three interceptions in a game before and hadn't scored a defensive touchdown since his college days at Virginia Tech. That performance saw Harris earn our First Star nod and lead the Riders to a 33-21 victory. His third interception, a 50-yard pick-six off of Rakeem Cato, was particularly impressive. Here's video of that:

This is a great play from Harris, as Cato seemed to have a receiver open. Harris broke on the ball perfectly and made an incredible stretch to go up and get it. What's particularly remarkable is how he was able to land, quickly accelerate, stop to juke a defender, go wide to get to full speed, and then cut back inside to beat another defender. That's an impressive runback, especially for someone who had never scored a defensive touchdown in four CFL seasons.
The defence was a liability for Saskatchewan in the early going this year, keeping them winless despite league-leading offensive performances, but Sunday's game was an indication that might be starting to turn around. They held the Alouettes to 21 points, well below the average of 30.4 they'd conceded on the year, and all the turnovers they created are a good sign that things might be looking up for them. Harris in particular had a dominant day, and if he can keep playing at this level, he could be an important piece for the Riders in the stretch run.
