Toronto Argonauts troll rival Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Twitter about their Grey Cup loss

The Argos took to Twitter to take some shots at the CFL Eastern champions during Sunday's Grey Cup game.

The Battle of Southern Ontario has apparently made its way to social media. Ahead of Sunday's Grey Cup between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Calgary Stampeders, the Toronto Argonauts (Hamilton's biggest rivals) publicly threw in their lot with the Stampeders on Twitter, and they went on to send plenty of tweets trolling the Ticats during and after their eventual 20-16 loss. Here are some of the best tweets the @TorontoArgos account sent:

That last one's particularly good. Of course, there are those who will object to this kind of trolling, but it's pretty funny from here (and this kind of funny social media engagement is one way to reach out to that younger demographic the league wants to reach). This is also deftly done, and more humourous than just mean (which has plagued some attempts of this nature.) Moreover, the Argos pointed out that the @Ticats account started it after Hamilton eliminated them from post-season contention with a final-day win over Montreal:

So, from this corner, all's fair in love and Twitter. Credit to the Argos for finding a clever way to strike back, and a way to get people talking about them during a Grey Cup they weren't involved with. This should fuel the Ticats-Argos rivalry for next season too, and that's good for both teams from a business perspective. Well played, Argos, well played.
