Three Stars: Mike Reilly, Brandyn Thompson and Chris Milo lead divisional finals

Here's the next edition of our Three Stars series, looking at the top offensive, defensive and special teams performances from this weekend's East and West finals.

First star/offensive player of the week: Mike Reilly, quarterback, Edmonton Eskimos: Reilly turned in a dazzling showing in Edmonton's 45-31 win over Calgary Sunday, throwing for 370 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 30 yards and two further touchdowns. The Central Washington product was efficient, too, completing 31 of his 39 passes (79.5 per cent). If he can keep this kind of play up, the Eskimos will have a great shot at the Grey Cup.

(Honourable mentions: Greg Ellingson, WR, Ottawa; Derel Walker, WR, Edmonton; Luke Tasker, SB, Hamilton.)

Second star/defensive player of the week: Brandyn Thompson, defensive back, Ottawa Redblacks: Thompson did well in Ottawa's 35-28 win over Hamilton Sunday, picking off Tiger-Cats' quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and adding six tackles. The Boise State alum is having a terrific first CFL season.

(Honourable mentions: Dexter McCoil, LB, Edmonton; Ted Laurent, DT, Hamilton; Almondo Sewell, DT, Edmonton.)

Third star/special teams player of the week: Chris Milo, kicker/punter, Ottawa Redblacks: Milo nailed all four of his field-goal attempts for Ottawa Sunday despite a sometimes-significant wind. The Laval product also averaged a decent 39.5 yards on eight punts.

(Honourable mentions: Rene Paredes, K, Calgary; Sean Whyte, K, Edmonton; Grant Shaw, P, Edmonton.)

Bonus star/Canadian player of the week: Ted Laurent, defensive tackle, Hamilton Tiger-Cats: Laurent was vital to the Tiger-Cats' defence Sunday, providing consistent pressure up the middle and collecting two sacks. The Ole Miss product has turned into one of the CFL's best Canadian players.

(Honourable mentions: Keith Shologan, DT, Ottawa; Chris Milo, K/P, Ottawa; Rene Paredes, K, Calgary.)
