Chris Jones takes the Grey Cup to National Cornbread Festival in Tennessee

Saskatchewan HC/GM Chris Jones brought the Grey Cup home Saturday for South Pittsburg, TN's annual National Cornbread Festival. (@CFL.)

It's unusual to see the Grey Cup associated with cornbread, but that's what happened Saturday when Saskatchewan Roughriders' coach/general manager/vice-president of football operations Chris Jones (who won the Cup last year as the coach of the Edmonton Eskimos before switching teams in the offseason) went back to his hometown of South Pittsburg, Tennesee for the town's famed National Cornbread Festival and brought the Cup along. Brodie Lawson and Max Rosenberg from CFL.ca were on the scene, and that led to some great photos and videos:

One of the best tweets not included above is of a guy in a Birmingham Barracudas shirt:

The Barracudas only lasted one season, in 1995 as part of the CFL USA experiment, but they had some impressive players, including Matt Dunigan, Scott Player, Shonte Peoples and Reggie Slack. It's nice to see that they're remembered, and it's great to see the Grey Cup shown off internationally. They picked a good event to do it at, too; this was the 20th annual National Cornbread Festival (which started as a way to show off the town and the iron cookware of famed manufacturer Lodge, which is headquartered locally), and it draws thousands of people annually.  This was a cool idea by Jones to head back to his hometown for a day with the Grey Cup (even if he's no longer with the team he won it with), and it was terrific to see CFL.ca's staffers document it. Well done!
