Canadian Brent Urban breaks hearts of Browns' fans in his NFL debut

Blame Canada!

While many of us might think of the gang from South Park when we see that phrase, fans of the Cleveland Browns might have nothing else to say when they learn about Baltimore Ravens DE Brent Urban.

The frustration, of course, is all tied to another devastating Browns' loss on Monday Night Football. With three seconds left on the clock, the Ravens blocked a potential game-winning field goal, scooped it up, and took the ball straight to the house. Ravens win, 33-27.

Will Hill, the Ravens' safety who recorded the game-winning TD, immediately drew the ire of Browns' fans. But it was Urban, the 2014 fourth-round pick from Mississauga, Ont., who reached for the sky and got a hand on that fateful kick.

How's that for a big play in your NFL debut?

Urban, who played high school football at Lorne Park before joining the University of Virginia Cavaliers, had waited nearly two frustrating seasons to make a play. After missing his entire rookie season due to a knee injury, Urban tore his right biceps earlier this season in training camp. The brace he sports on his injured right arm sure didn't seem to affect his play.

“I think I had one or two [blocks] my senior year in college,” Urban shared with The Baltimore Sun. “I just wanted to drive out low and stick my hand out and just wait for the play to happen.”

The near 68,000 Browns fans that had packed into The Factory of Sadness were anxiously awaiting that play as well. Just a quick 51-yard field goal to seal the win, or a simple miss to force overtime. But alas, the FirstEnergy Stadium's lowly moniker had once again lived up to its reputation.
