Andy Fantuz breaks world record with 50 one-handed catches in a minute

Hamilton Tiger-Cats' slotback Andy Fantuz is famed for his good hands, and now he's showing he doesn't even need to use both of them to catch a football. The CFL's teamed up with Whistle Sports for a new content and sales partnership, and as part of that, they've created a video showing Fantuz making 50 one-handed catches in a minute on passes from quarterbacks Darian Durant (Saskatchewan) and Bo Levi Mitchell (Calgary). That's above the 33 the New York Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. made in January and the 41 Iowa receiver Tevaun Smith made the next day.  Here's video of Fantuz's feat:

It's notable that plenty of other CFL stars were involved in helping here, with Saskatchewan's Rob Bagg, B.C.'s Adam Bighill, Montreal's Marc-Olivier Brouillette, Winnipeg's Stanley Bryant, Hamilton's Brian Bulcke and Calgary's Jon Cornish all playing roles in this effort. The extensive support Fantuz got (and that he got two different quarterbacks to throw at him; Beckham and Smith each only had one) may have some questioning the legitimacy of this record, but making one-handed catches from two different sides simultaneously seems just as difficult than what the other players did, if not more so. It's certainly a remarkable demonstration of both his hands and how accurate these quarterbacks are. Here are videos of those previous efforts for comparison purposes:

However, making one-handed catches on the practice field doesn't automatically make you a great football player. As For The Win's Nate Scott wrote in February, a Tennessee orthodontist managed to notch 41-one-handed catches, and did so without gloves. Beckham's shown he can do this in games as well, though, particularly with his stunning grab against the Cowboys in December. Fantuz has made lots of memorable catches of his own, too; let's see if he pulls off any one-handed ones in the CFL this year.
