Derek Carr's starting nod highlights Raiders' ineptitude at QB

Mike Florio questions whether Oakland's decision to start rookie Derek Carr in Week 1 is more a compliment of Carr or a sign of the Raiders' inability to identify quality veteran quarterbacks. The team brought in former Texans starter Matt Schaub during the offseason, but he completed just 24 of 47 passes in the preseason with no touchdowns and an interception. Carr, on the other hand, was 30 of 45 for 326 yards and four touchdowns.
