John Makdessi has made sports history by delivering the first UFC knockout in the province of Ontario.
The Halifax fighter knocked fellow lightweight Kyle Watson unconscious with a thrilling, spinning backfist at 1:27 of the third round.
Watson stayed on the mat for several minutes while primarily Canadian fans at UFC 129 celebrated with every replay on the Jumbotron.
"I knew I hit him well, but I didn't know I knocked him out," Makdessi said later. "I guess when you train that much, it's just a feeling to know when to use it."
UFC president Dana White has already tweeted that Makdessi will win Knockout of the Night.
"This is going to change my life," said Makdessi.
There's no video but the following picture should say it all.
