BRIEF-Soccer-Australia name full-strength side for Oman match
SYDNEY, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Australia have called up their top Europe-based players for the Nov. 14 Asian Cup qualifier at Oman.
Coach Pim Verbeek was taking no chances for the match by choosing a full-strength squad, including Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell and Lucas Neill, after the Socceroos scraped a 1-0 home victory over the same opponents last month.
Midfielder Mark Bresciano returns to the squad after knee surgery but Vince Grella is ruled out after picking up an injury in last month’s scoreless draw with the Netherlands.
Australia and Oman are level on four points in the Asian Cup Group B standings, a single point ahead of Kuwait and Indonesia who each have a game in hand. The top two teams from the group qualify for the 2011 finals in Qatar. (Reporting by Julian Linden; Editing by John O’brien; To comment on this story email sportsfeedback@thomsonreuters.com)
