Beckham’s off-field revenue soared after LA move
LONDON (AP)—David Beckham earned nearly $16.5 million from personal sponsorship deals during his first full season with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
The England midfielder’s latest accounts show that his marketability was unaffected by his move from Real Madrid to the United States, where soccer is less popular.
Newly released figures from the official British company registry show that Beckham’s income from his Footwork Productions company in the year ending Dec. 31, 2008, soared by 91 percent from the previous year .
The company’s gross profit of $20 million, which rose about 15 percent, includes income from endorsements. That figure is believed to account for two-thirds of the 34-year-old Beckham’s sponsorship income.
A separate company, Brand Beckham, receives his $5.5 million basic salary from the Galaxy, the share of the merchandising he generates for the MLS team and joint endorsements with his wife, Victoria, including their range of fragrances.
Beckham joined the Galaxy on a five-year contract in July 2007. Despite the non-renewal of sponsorship contracts with Gillette and Pepsi, his advisers at 19 Entertainment are confident of expanding his off-the-field portfolio.
As well as developing his own apparel range with Adidas, Beckham’s management team is looking to secure up to six sponsors in various areas.
Beckham’s global appeal is likely to be helped by a second five-month stay at AC Milan beginning in January, which will boost his chances of going to a fourth consecutive World Cup with England.

Sublime, he?...

Yeah, that explains it all.
Sad specimen and All-American example of a fan you are, and your whole lot. Remember who the team cheered when the season ended? Well, it wasn't LARS, for a reason....

"The FIFA World Player of the Year is an association football award given annually to the male and female player who are thought to be the best in the world, based on votes by coaches and captains of international teams."
So, team coaches and captains agree with me, and not you. Yeah, it does say a lot...

Wrong again dude, since I'm American (a USAF veteran as a matter of fact), and FIFA itself is the world body that recognized Beckham as one of the best footy players in the world SIX times. Yes: SIX times, and yes: in the WORLD, not just England.
A man doesn't become world famous and the top earner in ANY sport without the skills to back it up.
ps
There are plenty of "haters" of Beckham in England as well. I suppose it's jealousy, but I've never quite figured out the hatred for Beckham by some. Then again, I was a History major, and not Psychology...

Whetever people say or do, we will not take away what God has given him and these are Wealth, character, good looking unless he throws out what god has given him.
So don't waste your time comparing him with whomsoever you think because he is not such a person. he is beckham and will never be someone else you think should have been.

Beckham has earned 117 caps on merit. The man has the talent and work ethic of Kobe. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but has tremendous PR people to make the most of his looks and reputation. All power to the guy. I wish he'd played for Tottenham and kept them in the upper reaches of the EPL.

Perhaps you should look in the mirror and try to figure out why you don't appreciate the skillz that anyone and everyone in the world of football/soccer appreciates about Beckham: that he IS one of the all time greats. Your hate is pathetic, and obvious.
Obviously, scoring goals is not what he is about, it's about assists. You throw out another of those stereotypes that reveal you know nothing about football, when you state that dead ball situations is his only skill. Nobody ever has had the ability he has to land a cross on a dime while running that Beckham possesses. He has twice come in second for FIFA world player of the year, and has finished sixth, seventh and eighth as well. Who cares how Americans first came to know about him. Anyone who followed football knew of him from ManU before he even started dating Posh.
Your drivel is mean spirited as well as way off the mark. Only you know the reason for that...

sorry just a change or a couple of word it's more clear about BECKY
However, if you rate a player on ability and skills - Beckham is BELOW average but certainly not AT ALL among the any midfielders who have played the game.
