  • Canada Beats Scotland and Becomes Men's Curling Champs

    In Grand Fork, North Dakota, at the 2008 World Men's Curling Championships, Canada beat Scotland and over twenty years of hard luck to become the world champions. Scotland has held the title three times in the last four years, and originally defeat Canada for the straight line to the finals. Canada had to then defeat Norway before getting their rematch with Scotland for the title. Canada picked up the lead early and held on for a 6 to 3 victory. (WCSN, WCSN.com)

    The third time was the charm for the Canadian women. China had defeat them twice in earlier draws, but edging past Japan, Canada was set to face and then finally defeat China 7 to 4 in the championship match of the 2008 Ford World Curling Championships in Vernon, Canada. This is the second year in a row for Canada.

    In the semi-final match to see who moves ahead to the gold medal match, Scotland comes from behind to upset the Canadian men in Grand Fork, North Dakota.   • Switzerland beats Japan in the rematch and takes the Bronze

    The Swiss Women's Curling Team start out strong and hold off a Japanese come back to win the bronze medal match in Vernon, Canada. Japan defeated the Swiss team earlier for a try at the gold medal but two loss in one day causes Japan to still for fourth place at the 2008 Ford World Curling Championship.

  • Japan stumbles and Canada gets another chance at gold

    Japan's women's curling team stumbled under the pressure as Canada's team took advantage and moves to the gold round and a rematch with China. Canada won 9 to 8 in overtime on their home truf in Vernon, Canada.
