Armstrong to compete in 2010 Tour of California

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Lance Armstrong will compete in next year’s Tour of California, which will feature route changes and be moved from February to May to avoid the rainy season.

The 16 host cities for the May 16-23 road race were announced on Thursday via a Twitter exchange between Armstrong, three-time Tour of California champion Levi Leipheimer, Dave Zabriskie and George Hincapie, and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The announcement means Armstrong will not compete in the 2010 Giro d’Italia, which also will be held in May. Armstrong raced the Giro for the first time this year, finishing ninth, but Italian organizers had expected him to opt for the California race since his new team has an American sponsor.

The Giro route will be unveiled Saturday.

The four riders said they will compete in the fifth annual event, with Armstrong beginning the 2010 season with his newly formed Team RadioShack, which includes Leipheimer.

The race will begin with a road stage for the first time from Nevada City, California, to Sacramento. It will pass through Davis, Santa Rosa, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, San Jose, Modesto, Visalia, Bakersfield, Pasadena, Big Bear Lake, Los Angeles and end in Thousand Oaks, home of title sponsor Amgen.

Stage 7 will be the individual time trial in downtown Los Angeles next to Staples Center.

Linking me with Peter Joachim in any way is a true insult and misdirected. Just look at my public profile G-dmit. I am in no way either of these posters...Bike dad said it best on another forum....I am an individual poster who happens to love the sport of cycling...I don't like spammers like Peter Joachim and have reported him on more than one occasion.

Hey Ji and Peter, you obviously are jumping to conclusions about me. Ease up will ya. I am against prolific spammers and if Cheese is as you say Peter Joachim, then I take back my post about Cheese. Have you not read my posts slamming Peter Joachim? I can't stand the guy and have said so. I have no interest in getting into another word war with anyone else here. DO NOT include me with Peter Joachim or Cheese in posts to them....

I love the sport and will continue to post as best I can on topic. Again, don't jump to conclusions about me. You know nothing about me except you focused in on one post of mine.

    Got it.

Matt supports Peter Joachim aka Cheese Curtain. Reversed roles someone would have been crucified if talk was of Lance Armstrong. Go figure?
Does not matter the nationality of the cyclist, cycling is a beautiful sport.
CheeseCurtain was wrong and all who support him are MORE wrong.
Go figure? If this was a Lance in a Coma Slam would You, could You allow or accept this crass disrespect to a fallen Mate?

    Right!

Matt actions speak louder than words. Cheese Curtain IS Peter Joachim. They are both proliferate sports blogs and claim lance as each persona's ying and yang.
    The duality has been noted.
    He should be banned.
Commenting on a 21 one year old coming out of a coma from an NFL tangent???
IF the principal was lance he would have been strung up and quartered by now.

    Please.

Hey, ease up Ji and Peter. All Cheese was doing was saying Peter Joachim, the prolific spammer was on other threads (and it happened to be an NFL thread) and he respects PJ even less now.
I will defend Cheese here and say that I have had on topic conversations with Cheese. It makes both of you look bad when you compare anyone to Peter Joachim...in this case saying that he IS Peter Joachim...

So I am on another Yahoo sports blog and reading an article about the NFL and there it is! That familiar, redundant, tired rant! That's right, our boy Peter Jockitch was multi-tasking, by posting his usual anti-Lance Armstrong, anti-Nike and anti-Everything Unabomber rants on the unsuspecting blog for another site. I didn't think it was possible, but I now respect him even less.

As long as DOPER Lance holds a valid Nike contract, sells sneakers, and continues his empty denials, he is GOLDEN.

He has flunked many drug tests.
He has had his medical waste, insulin, sringes and cow blood filmed being dumped before.
He has his teammates confess to EPO & steroid injections
He has his teammates fail drug tests whilst on his team (eg: Benoit Joachim)
He had his steroid doctor CONVICTED of illegal pharmacy

    Nobody cared. We do!

Lance is a clean Drug Cheat on cow blood IVs and hGH & insulin

    Hi Matt,

I was talking with Cheese Curtain on another post regarding the difficult route the Giro has planned for 2010.
It takes a lot out of a cyclist to compete in the Giro and then the TDF.
I think it is wise for both Armstrong & Contador to avoid the Giro this year. I look forward to the racing
and hope that a lot of cyclists have break out performances at the 2010 TDF.

I am looking for the contenders in the TDF to win more individual stages this year.

I think sometimes we pay too much attention to Peter J, but I do it too and so does Peter.

To hell with Peter Jock-itch and his idiotic terms. I AM a Lance Armstrong fan and I will enjoy arguing his merits with those of you who are CYCLING FANS with differing opinions. He's a cycling immortal, an American (Why is it ok for Italians to cheer for Italians, Spaniards for Spaniards, yet Americans are dolts for backing their own?) and he has done more to help people with cancer than I ever can.

Next season will be a fun season with lots to talk and post about. Just ignore the idiots no matter which church they belong to.

I would certainly like to get rid of Peter Joachim. I have reported him also. You can add me to the pile of Peter Joachim abuse reporters. I also don't like to be put into any category such as the aforementioned Lance Trance Zombies. Hey, I loved watching Lance winning all those Tours. What red blooded American bike racing fan didn't enjoy to some level his domination of the sport for that amazing time span. If that makes me a "Lance Trance Zombie" then whatever. Yes, the term is and can be used as a direct insult. I think it has when it comes to the poster and his use of this term. This particular forum article is about Lance and his riding in the T of C instead of the Giro. You guys also know that Contador is skipping the Giro also, don't you? Contador is keeping his eye on the showdown with Lance and other GC contenders in the TDF (still the most amazing sporting event in the world as far as I am concerned).
So, while I have strayed from topic at times especially when PJ arrives, I also have enjoyed the civil discussion about the topic at hand. I should be around for a while...;)

    Peter,
    Your comments are still supercilious.

Using a stereotype whatever it is, lance trance zombie, to put individuals that you don't even know into a certain group identified only by you, is being lazy.

Coming up with the term " lance trance zombies", really isn't that big an accomplishment. I would put it right there with the racist terms used to denote people of different nationalities and different religious groups. NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF

You still used passe' and sycophant wrong again.

I have reported not only Peter Joachim's postings as abuse at the least 150 times. I know three other posters who have repeatedly reported his articles as abuse repeatedly.

Yahoo US refuses to do anything about Peter Joachim.

So, I assert your two posts using passe' are both off point. It would be nice to be rid of Peter Joachim on these posts. However, it is Yahoo US that is preventing this happening, not the posters.

    These are facts, not suppositions.

Nothing lazy about coining a phrase...lance trance zombies.
How about the fad of Texas shabby chic of a yellow rubber band?

I have no problem with LA I just out grew him. Levi will do whatever, he just wants bragging rights in his own backyard. Nothing wrong with that. Pro riders do make a pact.

Passé is the way many of you by pass the comment guide lines by not using Report Abuse. PJ is a dog. PJ is doing his job as a dog. Ignore the noise.
All who post filth, not humorous disgusting words of PJ have cancer of the soul. This is equal to walking by a dog and rattling the fence only making the dog more rabid. Take the high road. Not the lazy way and write junk.

At least we had a bike dialogue going on 80% of the time. We just ignore PJ.

    The truth about Peter Joachim.

Peter Joachim is a writer for L'Equipe. He gets orders from ASO and AFLD to go on every single blog for cycling in the world to spread lies and inuendo about Lance Armstrong and other NON-FRENCH Cyclists and their unfounded, unproven doping activities. Meanwhile he has been instructed not to attack the biggest Doper in the Tour History--Richard Virenque who is a frenchman and got caught redhanded.

Peter Joachim is the Joseph Goebbels of the Yahoo message boards.

Passe': out of date; old fashioned; not youthful; rather old.

Sycophant: a person who seeks favor by flattering people of wealth or influence: parasite; toady.

    Post 53 Peter
You get an F for the incorrect use of these words in a sentence.
You also use a stereotype " lancezombie" way too often. Anyone who resorts to stereotypes is being lazy in their thought process.
Peter you were just off the mark in that posting & too supercilious.
Lance Armstrong is not cycling, but he does happen to be a cyclist who is a part of the cycling profession.
Evidently, you don't like Armstrong. There is nothing wrong with that. When Lance was winning all those TDFs, I liked him, Popyvich, Heras, Hincape, Ullrich, Kloden, and a few more. I thought Miguel Indurain or is it Induran, was a great cyclist. Perhaps, you are just upset how much attention Armstrong gets from the media. That is understandable considering cycling is bigger than one or two cyclists. However, please use your words more correctly and don't stereotype. I am an individual and I think the others who post are individuals also. You don't know me nor do you know the other posters, and to group us under a stereotype like "lance zombie" is both stupid and insulting.

It is really very simple...Peter Jokechim has no life! He has to attempt to live his pitiful life through the life of a winner. I seriously doubt if he has ever taken even the training wheels off of a bike, if he can actually ride on anyway. He has knowledge of one thing, copy and paste and that is it!

YO PETER (and the name fits fer sure), get off the puter and get out in the sunshine! You head has been in a dark place for so long you need sunlight to awaken you to the current times!

Fact: You are a LOSER and Lance is a WINNER! Get used to it!

    Pitiful you are!!!!!

NOW....I think it is great that Lance and the others have picked the TOC to ride. It will be great for USA BIKE RACING and for California in general. Good Luck to you all!

    AND NOW...Get Out and RIDE!!!

Peter Joachim is the biggest joke in all the cycling posts(Americas, Europe, China, Russia, Japan).
Even the penguins think he is funny, not credible, but funny.

He is the Rodney Dangerfield of the cycling world because no one shows him any respect.
Please treat Peter Joachim as the tragic stand up comedian he is and do not give him any respect.

He has worn out his welcome on the stand up comedy tours because his material is so old and everyone has heard it.

Peter Joachim find something else to do. You are a failure at sports postings. Maybe you should become a fashion critic. From what I hear most of the models do drugs.
