Spanish cyclist Fernandez suspended for doping

AIGLE, Switzerland (AP)—The International Cycling Union has suspended Spanish rider Alberto Fernandez for testing positive for EPO.

The UCI said Thursday that the banned endurance-boosting hormone was found in a urine sample taken at Fernandez’s home on Oct. 15.

The 25-year-old Fuji-Servetto rider was targeted for unannounced testing because of suspect results revealed in samples given for his personal biological passport.

Fernandez can request that his backup sample is tested for confirmation.

The UCI said it has asked the Spanish cycling federation to open a disciplinary case. Fernandez has been provisionally suspended until the federation rules on the case.

    The truth about Peter Joachim.

Peter Joachim is a writer (propaganda minister) for L'Equipe. He gets orders from ASO and AFLD to go on every single blog for cycling in the world to spread lies and inuendo about Lance Armstrong and other NON-FRENCH Cyclists and their unfounded, unproven doping activities. Meanwhile he has been instructed not to attack the biggest Doper in the Tour History--Richard Virenque who is a frenchman and got caught redhanded.

Peter Joachim is the Joseph Goebbels of the Yahoo message boards.

    Peter Jock-Itch (Post #4),
Of all the stupid, hare-brained posts that you have used to bludgeoned readers, this the stupidest and most hare-brained of all. It clearly demonstrates that you are a Unabomber in training wheels (To go along with being a cyclist in training wheels) and that you should include your own name in the list of known dopers (and dopes) associated with cycling. Granted your association with cycling is on the extreme fringe of the sport.

While you are at it maybe you can tie Fernandez to Armstrong. Because Fernandez probably bought a pair of Nike shoes at some point in his life. According to your style book, that establishes an association. Don't forget to take your meds today. You are what people in the mental health field refer to as a "loon"!

Keep the new drug program wokking..
Find the violaters, give the two year ban, and subject them to stringent testing once the two year ban is up.

Bruyneel and Armstrong have an unhealthy relationship to the Tour de France? Of the I-know-better-but-can't-stop-myself variety? They do, and everyone knows it: you, me, them, even ASO. But hey, it's their money, not mine.

One wonders where exactly this is going; JB and Lance seem like a one-trick pony, and that trick, along with the ponies, is getting rather old. But I will give them credit: the Trek/Livestrong development team is evidence that they're building for the future, when it's finally time to pack away US Postal for good.

Is not that the truth? Unhealthy addiction . = Unhealthy adoration and support to LA by lance trance zombies? Hummmmm.

    Team Shack

v.2009: Or is it Team The Shack? God, that would suck. Anyway, I suppose you could argue that it didn't exist, but of course it did, just under a different set of colors. The Bruyneel Model is all about loading up for the grand tours without a shred of restraint. Of course, when you only meaningfully contest one of the three grand tours, despite having enough riders for at least five GT squads, it raises some uncomfortable questions. Like, do Bruyneel and Armstrong have an unhealthy relationship to the Tour de France? Of the I-know-better-but-can't-stop-myself variety? They do, and everyone knows it: you, me, them, even ASO. But hey, it's their money, not mine.

v.2010: It's tempting to just call this the wayback machine version of a Bruyneel team -- everyone but that annoying Contador guy -- but it is worth noting that they should be a presence in a few classics as well, with Vaitkus a B-list cobbles guy along with Steegmans and Rosseler, plus Lance and young gun Ben Hermans in the Ardennes. One wonders where exactly this is going; JB and Lance seem like a one-trick pony, and that trick, along with the ponies, is getting rather old. But I will give them credit: the Trek/Livestrong development team is evidence that they're building for the future, when it's finally time to pack away US Postal for good.

Holiday Wish List: Honestly, I can't think of anything. There are plenty of needs, but I don't know if Bruyneel is interested, and I'm not overly interested if they aren't.
