Canada's Eric Lamaze cruises to victory at Equita Masters show jumping event
LYON, France - Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, Ont., was two seconds clear of the nearest rider en route to winning the Equita Masters on Saturday.
After Ireland's Jessica Kurten posted a second-round time of 44.51 seconds, Lamaze rode Hickstead around the course in 42.10 to win.
Germany's Marco Kutscher finished third in 44.34.
For the victory, Lamaze earned 30,000 euros (C$48,000) of the total 120,000 euros (C$192,600) in prize money.
"He is an amazing horse," said Lamaze of Hickstead, a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion. "I started out with a great show yesterday, and today was even better."
