Bert Sugar (June 7, 1937-March 25, 2012) -- Almost always sporting a fedora, a cigar and a willingness to talk, Sugar was the dean of boxing historians. He wrote dozens of books on the sport, commentated on its every detail and was the first to rank boxers across all generations. (He put Sugar Ray Robinson at No. 1.) He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005.
