The free agency hoopla is gone, and the Coyotes emerged from the fray in an interesting position.

They did not add a big-time scorer—they did that at the draft when they dealt for Florida Panther forward Olli Jokinen—but they picked up several players who might best be described as works in progress. Defensemen Kurt Sauer and David Hale are going to get the chance to show how much they can contribute. Forward Todd Fedoruk wants to prove that he can be a complete player, and forward Brian McGrattan is the new enforcer, and his presence should help open up the ice.

Sulliman, 48, replaces Rick Tocchet, who was hired this week as an assistant coach by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
