Sports) <p><p>In a contract dispute, the Wild put left wing Stephane Veilleux, a restricted free agent who has fired his agent and is negotiating for himself, on waivers Wednesday to give him a bit of a reality check.</p> <p>Trying to show Veilleux that his value isn't as high as he thinks it is, the Wild put him on waivers in a virtual game of chicken. Veilleux wasn't claimed, and now the Wild is hoping he'll be reasonable and work out a contract prior to a July 21 arbitration hearing.</p> <p>"I wouldn't think that we have to go this far," Veilleux said.</p> <p>"We are far apart in our evaluation and Steph really believes in a higher number," assistant general manager Tom Lynn said.
