Third periods are turning into a disaster for the Avalanche, which has allowed a total of nine goals in the third period in its last three games.

Fortunately for the Avalanche, it scored just enough in Monday's game against the Flyers to hang on for a 5-4 win.

The Avalanche wasn't so lucky in the previous two games, blowing two-goal leads in road losses to Edmonton and Vancouver.

"It's not a concern, but it's something we'll talk about," coach Joe Sacco said. "We've just got to address the situation and be better."

The Avalanche, which nearly squandered all of a 5-2 lead against the Flyers, meets the Nashville Predators on Wednesday in the second game of a three-game homestand.

The Colorado Avalanche have discovered two-goal leads aren't enough to get a win, so they grabbed a three-goal edge against Philadelphia on Monday night. They needed every bit of that cushion. The Colorado Avalanche have activated rookie forward T.J. Galiardi and defenseman John-Michael Liles from the injured reserve list. Both were activated before the team's game Friday night against the Vancouver Canucks. Galiardi has missed nine games since injuring his ankle Oct. 28 at Calgary. He has one goal and five assists for Colorado this season.
