One of the Blue Jackets' heart-and-soul players will miss at least one week with a concussion, the result of a hit-from-behind by Dallas Stars forward James Neal.

Derek Dorsett missed Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss in Nashville, and he will miss the final three games of the road trip, too -- at New York (Rangers), Montreal and Ottawa.

Neal was suspended two games by the NHL for the hit.

After playing mostly on the fourth line as a rookie in 2008-09, Dorsett has been elevated to third-line duty in 2009-10. He is one of the Blue Jackets' most energetic players, their one true agitator.

In 18 games, Dorsett has one goal, three assists and a plus-2 rating. He also had a club-high 51 penalty minutes.

PREDATORS 4, BLUE JACKETS 3 (SO): The Blue Jackets' blues in Music City appear to have no end. A shootout loss in Sommet Center on Saturday marked the Blue Jackets' 12th straight loss in Nashville. R.J. Umberger had two goals and Anton Stralman had one goal, while goaltender Steve Mason had 45 saves.

The Blue Jackets allowed two power play goals and a short-handed goal.

• The Blue Jackets haven't won in Nashville since April 3, 2006, a span of 12 games (0-9-3). Only three current Blue Jackets were on the roster when the Blue Jackets last won in Sommet Center.

• The Blue Jackets allowed their second shorthanded goal of the season on Saturday vs. Nashville, and it was a backbreaker. David Legwand's goal tied the score at 2-2 only 1:29 into the second period, and the Predators took the lead only two minutes later.
