Flames lose top scorer Bourque
Calgary Flames leading scorer Rene Bourque(notes) will miss at least two games with an undisclosed injury.
Coach Brent Sutter said Friday that the winger won’t accompany the team on its road trip to California, which comprises games against Los Angeles on Saturday and Anaheim on Monday.
Bourque, who is considered day-to-day, left early in the third period of Thursday’s 7-1 home loss to the Chicago Blackhawks after taking a hard open-ice hit from Niklas Hjalmarsson(notes) in the second.
Bourque, 27, tops the Flames with 21 points (seven goals). He has registered at least a point in 15 of 20 games.
