Senators’ Leclaire sidelined with broken cheekbone
OTTAWA (AP)—Ottawa Senators starting goaltender Pascal Leclaire(notes) will be sidelined about a month with a broken cheekbone.
The team said Tuesday that he suffered the injury while sitting on the bench during the 4-3 overtime win Monday against Washington.
A dump-in attempt by Senators center Mike Fisher(notes) struck a stick and sailed into the Ottawa bench, rebounding off the glass and off the right side of Leclaire’s face.
Leclaire was serving as backup to Brian Elliott(notes) because he’d suffered a slight injury to his lower body in a win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
