Buffalo to keep Sabres rookie D Tyler Myers
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Sabres rookie Tyler Myers(notes) is staying in Buffalo after an impressive nine-game stint.
Under NHL rules, Myers’ three-year rookie contract will kick in after his 10th game, and he’ll also be able to test free agency a year earlier than most players in his draft class. The Sabres could have sent him back to his junior team in Kelowna.
“He made it pretty easy,” coach Lindy Ruff said. “He played real well for us.”
The 6-foot-8 defenseman, Buffalo’s top pick in the 2008 draft (13th overall), solidified his spot after registering five points while posting a plus-8 rating. He still can get sent to Kelowna because he has a year of junior eligibility left, but cannot go to Buffalo’s AHL team in Portland.
“I don’t want to get too comfortable,” Myers said. “I still want to play at a high intensity. Sometimes if guys get a little comfortable, they slow down a bit, so I want to make sure I keep it going and try to limit those mistakes, just keep improving.”

You obviously haven't been an NHL fan for long. I remember lots of empty seats a couple years in Buffalo. I think sabre hit the nail on saying it was 2002-2003. Now Leaf fans, they will fill the house every night mediocrity and did so during the worst time in club history (1980s) and do so today with a 1-9 record.
As for Myers, I congratulate him. Just another reason to watch the World Juniors as all 3 of Doughty (GO STORM), Myers, and Schenn played for Canada in that tournament.

I'm just hoping my Sabres minipack have a Toronto game as I can pay for most of my entire ticket price by selling those tickets to a team that hasn't won a cup since there was 8 teams in the league.
See what The Rogers people do you your franchise...

No d-bag, the correct sentence is:
"Toronto fans are the most stupid in the NHL. They would follow Leafs hockey if they lost every game!"

Wow, even I never attack at team's fans. That's an interesting statement, because when the Sabres WERE losing every game (2002-03), attendance was among the lowest in the league. The fans are neither stupid nor disloyal--if the product isn't worth paying for, we won't pay for it. If the fans blindly support this team's decisions, why did so many people want to return their season tickets after the fiasco involving you know which players? (Sorry to bring that up again).
But if they do make the right choices (committing to Roy and Miller and, hopefully, Myers), we'll reward the team with our money. That's how it should be, right?
Regardless, attack the managing partner (Quinn is pathetic) or even the GM or coach. But come on, never attack the fans. Every team has its ignorant fans and its true fans.

There is no doubt that he has the talent. A couple of misplays through 8 games is not too bad for a rookie. His decision making and puck handling has been excellent. Nice SO goal to boot.
I say keep him, even if they have to platoon him in the 2nd half of the season. 50-60 games, and then ready for the playoffs. If Buffalo does well in the next 2 season, maybe Myers will sign a longer term contract and not go looking after 3 yrs.

The money issue is bogus, the Sabres need to win games and this kid has proved that he can help them do that. Lindy's and especially Regier's jobs are at stake, if they send this kid down, and the Sabres' performance suffers, they're gone by New Years.
