Things were slowly getting out of hand for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the middle of the second period of their game against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night. First, the Stars would score twice in a 59-second span, including a slick Loui Eriksson(notes) penalty shot, to take a 4-1 lead. Not long after, Brenden Morrow(notes) and Kris Letang(notes) dropped the gloves, but because the Pittsburgh defenseman was coming back from a bad hand, he hung on for dear life.
Right after that, sensing the frustration on the Penguins side, Sidney Crosby(notes) decided to get himself involved in the physical stuff by dropping mitts with Matt Niskanen(notes) right off a faceoff:
It was Crosby's fifth career scrap and a little over a year since his last tilt against Marek Zidlicky(notes) of the Minnesota Wild. From improving at faceoffs to becoming a better two-way player, it looks as if the next aspect of Sid the Kid's game he wants to improve on is puttin' on the foil.
