About a month ago, we presented a video collection of Florida Panthers announcer Randy Moller's hilarious goal calls and revealed the story behind them: Callers to Dan Le Batard's radio show in Miami suggest pop culture references and Moller unleashes them on an unsuspecting public when the Panthers score.
This was the first collection of Moller's over-the-top goal calls. It was tear-producing comedy:
100% Injury Rate over on Fan IQ tipped us to the second collection of Moller Goals to hit the Web, with references to (among others) Austin Powers, "Cast Away", "Animal House", "Heat", "When Harry Met Sally", "Tombstone", "The 40-Year-Old Virgin", "Titanic", "European Vacation", "There's Something About Mary" and "Con Air", along with a few non-movie ones. Not as good as Vol. 1, in our opinion, but then again Vol. 1 didn't have an NHL announcer screaming out "Bonerama!" either:
Personal best: "I just had coffee with McCauley a half-hour ago!" from Michael Mann's "Heat." Now that's a pop culture reference.
Complaints: The line is "Iceberg, right ahead!" from "Titanic", not "dead ahead." And anyone that's even the slightest bit savvy when it comes to viral videos knows that "Ding, fries are done" was not originated by "Family Guy." Cop-out city, right there.
Requests: More commercial slogans. "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" is a great start. "So easy, a caveman can do it" ... "For the seafood lover in you" ... "You're gonna love my nuts." The possibilities are endless.
