Mike Vallely is a pro skater and a celebrity fan for the Anaheim Ducks, who had done some blogging for them in the past (screen cap here).

That relationship has been severed by the team, according to the OC Register, which reported that police said 'Mike V.' was arrested and cited for fighting in public for his part in the wild fan brawl over Scott Niedermayer's(notes) stick. Video of the fight was posted here on Friday morning.

We were tipped off earlier today that the "little girl" Niedermayer referred to in his awkward postgame interview on Fox Sports was in fact Vallely's daughter, and that Vallely became physically involved when another fan attempted to snatch the stick after Niedermayer tossed it to her over the glass.

Curtis Zupke of Ducks blog confirmed those details and that Vallely, 39, had been arrested, though police said "none of the parties involved wished to press charges."

Zupke writes that the Ducks were doing a bit of damage control today:

A link to Vallely's blog had been on the Ducks' official Web site. The link was taken down by Friday afternoon. Ducks spokesman Alex Gilchrist said that Vallely was not an official employee of the organization, but that the Ducks have terminated their relationship with him.

The Ducks are evaluating the practice of players handing their sticks to fans in the stands, Gilchrist said. The tradition began this season.

Puck Buddy Bredan emailed us about Mike V participating in the fight, telling us that he's obviously cut his hair (and we imagine had a shave since this George Parros(notes) photo in 2007) and that the Web is littered with clips of him involved in other fights.

The Ducks incident is already up on Mike V's Wikipedia page, whose references to Powell Peralta in 1987 have made us feel about as old as watching John Carlson(notes) (D.O.B.: Jan 10, 1990) skate for the Capitals tonight. Sigh.

ah mike v... i saw a 411 video back in the day where he challenges some member of the la kings to a hockey fight and gets his ass whooped on skates. but the kid can throw down, no doubt. i wouldn't like to be the guy who took the stick from his daughter.

So it was planned for Niedermeyer to pass his stick to Vallely's daughter, ? How wonderfully kind of Niedermeyer.

Both of those guys involved in the fight are douchebags. The big dude for taking the stick and Mike V. for assaulting him. It sounds like he could have easily gotten his hands on a replacement. What a tool!!

Wysh, is it possible to ask the powers that be to create the links in your posts to open in a new tab instead of just taking us away from your page? Right clicking is such a pain..

    Mike,
If you click a link with your scroll wheel on your mouse, most browsers open it in a new tab. You can also right-click the link and then click New Tab.

Vallely...total time warp! Rad. He was big back in the day because of this one fight where he took on multiple combatants at a single time...and kicked their asses.

Dude that crazy, read that guys blog before he kinda seems sketchy however I think I would do the same thing if someone did something like that to my daughter. Does it bother anyone but me during the warm-ups and some player intentially throws a puck over for a kid and some Douche catches it and puts into into his pocket?

Remember that play with Dave Andrychuk on the Leafs, where his stick went out into the crowd, and the fan gave him his stick back. He proceeded to score an important goal. I tried to find a clip on u-tube but failed. Man times have changed.

@Adriano...nobody responded to you or remembered you. Seafood line, Sir Napsalot, Chief Sitting Still, 2003 draft (Getzlaf, Richards, Parise), a broken house getting fixed. All the same stupid lines you use all the time. You are still an embarassment to Montreal fans.

i saw that scuffle last night... cmon folks... let the girl have the stick. make an adult decision to be an actual adult. it's not like the stick is made of gold. you get the stick, brag about it for a few days, then throw in your closet. to a little girl, it might make a huge difference. eegads people... grow up...

This is crazy, everyone keeps coming down on the guy for defending his daughter from the obnoxious ape. If your approx 10-12 yr old daughter was given a souvenir from a pro hockey player that she likely idolizes and some clown tried to pull it out of her hands right in front of you, you're all telling me you'd smile and wish him well while he bullies your kid? Personally at first I thought it was just a stranger in the crowd and watching the video I said to myself good for him, standing up to an ass that would try to do that to a little kid, I'd have done the exact same thing. Upon finding out it was HIS kid the drunken ape bullied, I'm surprised he didn't start swinging immediately. 100% excused in my books, he did what any DECENT father would have done when a rather large man tried to bully his little girl.

I've got vallely with a butt-end, holding and fighting, I've got blue for fighting and I have a third-man(woman)-in for the blonde lady. Vallely gets a match, game-misconduct and indefinite suspension, Blue gets five for fighting and game-misconduct and Blonde gets a game for 3rd in. Honda Center has human penalty boxes by the 200 freight elevator and the only way out is through Anaheim PD. With all the Sharks fans coming down today there will be no room at the inn tonight...
