After six losses in his team's last seven games, rookie head coach Rex Ryan is going on the offensive—literally.

"I'm not a defensive coordinator slash head coach, I'm a head coach, period," Ryan said. "I need to be more of the game manager than probably what I even realized before.

"There's been some people here that have been critical of that, and it's probably more accurate than I wanted to believe."

So Ryan announced Monday to reporters that he plans to be much more hands-on with the Jets offense for the rest of the season, following yet another meltdown by rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The defensive-minded Ryan pretty much had given offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer carte blanche.
