Former San Francisco 49ers holdout Michael Crabtree(notes) is finally playing ball but an investigation into a possible tampering charge against the New York Jets is still underway, according to ProFootballTalk. Some folks seemed to think the allegations would disappear when Crabtree finally signed but the league is reportedly pushing ahead with it.
It is unclear who has actually been interviewed about it and it also isn't clear if Crabtree and his agent, Eugene Parker, will even talk. They apparently have the right to refuse interview requests.
The 49ers filed the tampering charges back in late September when they were still negotiating with Crabtree. The belief is apparently that the Jets contacted Parker to fill him on their hope to trade for Crabtree or draft him next season if a deal couldn't be agreed upon.
Of course, now Crabtree is a 49er and he started his career off last Sunday with five catches for 56 yards.

Former wide receiver holdout Michael Crabtree(notes) may be getting the start for the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday but Josh Morgan(notes) will still likely be getting the majority of the playing time when the Niners takes on the Houston Texans, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
Folks were feeling bad that Morgan, who has shown up this season, would be losing his playing time to former holdout Crabtree. Morgan will apparently be put in when three receivers are needed and sometimes as a single receiver, which San Francisco does a fair amount due to its strong running game.
No matter how much time Morgan gets out on the field, fans of the 49ers will likely be happy to finally have first-round draft pick Crabtree out on the field attempting to catch balls rather than sitting around in his silly holdout that went nowhere. Hard to feel bad for a guy who is reportedly making $32 million over the next six years.

When San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree(notes) ended his ridiculous holdout a few weeks ago, the word from the team was that they would be working him slowly, getting him to memorize the third-down and end-zone packages and growing from there.
But the word now is that Crabtree could be starting this week, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Coach Mike Singletary says it's a "strong possibility," so it sounds pretty likely.
This means split end Josh Morgan(notes), the Niners' second-leading receiver, will probably be out of the starting lineup. And you can bet Morgan isn't happy about this rookie taking his slot.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs would love to remain with the team for the rest of his playing career. But if the team doesn't want to commit to him, he wants them to go ahead and trade him now, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The Browns are already dealing with what to do with deposed starting quarterback Brady Quinn(notes), who isn't so excited to be playing backup to Derek Anderson(notes), and now comes this. Cribbs signed a six-year extension back in 2007 that has him under Cleveland's thumb through 2012 at a price of $6.77 million. And now he wants a new extension and supposedly considered holding out this past summer for one.
Predictably, the Browns don't want to trade Cribbs before Tuesday's deadline and will likely try to work out some sort of deal with Cribbs this off-season.
Two teams that are believed to be the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders have apparently come to the Browns to ask about trading for Cribbs. The Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Dolphins are all supposedly interested as well.
