NFL - Sports Rumors

“TomAn ex-wife and an ex-girlfriend came out recently and said Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable assaulted them when they were with him. This comes on the heels of Cable supposedly breaking the jaw of one of his assistant coaches in training camp this summer. So the team is apparently going to "conduct a serious evaluation," according to the Oakland Tribune.

The team has apparently canned past employees for nasty behavior. Seems like his could fit the bill.

The team said in a statement, "Over the last few days, we learned of the allegations made against coach Cable, and we are, of course, aware of his response thereto. In conjunction with the league office, we will undertake a serious evaluation of this matter. We wish to be clear that we do not in any way condone or accept actions such as those alleged."

In the statement, the team says that some of those past firings, which were done for obviously confidential reasons, the team has "endured public opprobrium for the dismissals, all the while knowing our basis for them was appropriate."

OK, time to go through past Oakland Raider firings that didn't make a whole lot of sense at the time.

Finally, Al Davis has the 'cause' he needs to fire this loser. It's the bye week. Do it already, Al. He can't coach. He's proven that again. How long must fans put up with him? Fire Tom Cable.

It doesn't matter who coach's the Radiers. Until Al Davis gives up control of everything, the Raider Nation is doomed! It's not always about arm strength, speed, and brute force. Wake up Al, the game has changed!

The Raiders suck because the offense is weak. Cable can't make gold out of a turd. The problem is Russell and the offensive line sucks. So in fact the game hasn't changed that much. You need a good line, a good quarterback and you win. IF the line was a little more effective we would be pounding the pigskin down opponents throats and Russell wouldn't have to depend on his arm. Russell was suppose to be good and no knucklehead on here could predict he would suck so bad. So hopefully Al works on getting some offensive linemen in the upcoming draft. Maybe if Russell had some time to throw and wasn't always playing from behind he could learn how to be a better NFL caliber quarterback.
And who does Older than and Living the closet Las Vegas life think the Raiders should hire as the new coach at week 9? Let Cable play out the season and make adjustments in the off season. This season is curtains already.

You guys are the same yokels calling out Al for firing Lane Kiffen last year. Cable is more successful than Kiffen and you want CAble to get the axe? You guys are ridiculous. More flip floppers on here than John Kerry running for president.

If the Raiders were smart they would beg Garcia to come back and play out the rest of the season. Not saying we are going to win many games with him but at the very least Russell will be able to learn a little bit. No one else picked up Garcia and he is old but he can still teach the young guy some stuff.

Al Davis didn't just turn everything over to Jon Gruden and Chuck Bresnahan when they arrived a decade ago.
The Raiders had QB, o-line issues, and front 4 issues then as well as WR issues until Al Davis sat down with GOAT Jerry Rice and gave the old man a 2nd chance and pulled in journeyman Rich Gannon for Gruden to coach up. Al Davis was just as much involved then as he is today.
Arguably, (both good and bad) Gruden would not be the coach/analyst he is today without Al Davis.
It's sad to see all these so-called Raiders fans dissing Al Davis. These fans are a bunch of hypocrits.

Al has his excuse to can him. I'd be surprised if he lasts another season. The Davis way over the past several years of failure is to scapegoat out the coach.

at the beginning of the last off season Al anounced that he was going to hire someone to run the operations before the season begins. he still hasn't hired anybody i wonder if he is just that old that he thinks he hired someone and really is bi polar. either way he is just too damn old to be trying to run everything.

This is still just media filler. without any charge of wrongdoing by the police. Not even a trial and allegations that go back 20 years and can't be deemed credible, this is nonsense. If and when he's fired, it's because he couldn't get the O-Line together and he's supposed to be an O-Line coach. If and when he's fired; it'll be because of his won and lose record. This is complete ESPN media nonsense. Can we get back to football?

brian b.......Trust me....you will NOT beat Dallas. Wade Phillips is more talented than Tom Cable and Tony Romo is much more talented than........than........who's your QB again?....Oh yeah...Russell. HAHA!
In order for Oakland to have a successful team.....Al Davis must be GONE. Plain and simple.

I'm waiting for Al to sue ESPN. That's why Al is so hated, he sues the crap out of the NFL and whoever pisses him off and doesn't take $hit from anyone. He could care less what you non educated posters write or even think for that matter. Ultimately he should but he is old and stubborn. He's an old man people get over it. He's not going to stop medelling in his team. He owns it so either stfu and be a fan of another team or keep hating because your insecure about your own team. Here's to another losing season and maybe more. Still better than being a bandwagon fan.
