Mike Holmgren not pleased with Washington Redskins

Yahoo! Sports Exclusive

“MikeThere's been a belief for some time that former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren would be at the top of the list for Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder if there came a time that he decided to fire his current coach, Jim Zorn. After all, Holmgren has said that he's interesting in coaching on the East Coast after stints in the West and Midwest.

Well, it appears that all may be thrown out the window, according to the Washington Post. Holmgren is apparently upset with the treatment Snyder is giving Zorn, who previously was an assistant for Holmgren in Seattle.

He reportedly told a Chicago radio station that "it was very unfair" to strip Zorn of his play-calling abilities.

"The position they put Jim in, it shouldn't happen," he said. "You can be upset with me as a play-caller or how the team's going, [then] fire me. But don't do that. Don't pull the rug out from under me, tie my hands, make me look foolish ... take away what I came there for to do in the first place. Don't do that."

Go ahead and scratch his name off your list, Mr. Snyder.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Despite that, however, the play calling was better, even though we lost. It is sad when we fans feel like the season is over already. Maybe now we will truly rebuild instead of throwing money into the free agent market.

Snyder doesn't deserve to hire Holmgren after the garbage he did to Zorn.

The Redskins record for the last several years shows alot of in-consistantcy and no steady improvement. The offense has been beaten down with injuries to the elder lineman with no replacements that have been around long enough in practice to help Cambell from failing. I have to say that the offense is like a bank account and it is spent. Sadly Zorn has become the scape goat of Vinny and will lose his job before Vinny which is sad also since Vinny has not brought any consistant winning since he came to town. This is not an acceptable trend anymore and a change at G.M. is important.

There will be a lot of head coaching jobs available after the season. I still believe Mike is looking for more than just a head coach's position.

The Redskins are absolutely hopeless. The way they treated Norv and Marty speaks volumes. Joe Gibbs was unable to raise their level of competence. The problem is Snyder, pure and simple. He is a rich fool who has the ability to purchase his own real live "Fantasy Team" and then tries to compete with the pros while behaving like a spoiled adolescent. The Redskins have been a well regarded franchise since the days of Edward Bennett Williams and Jack Kent Cooke. While this dippy moron Snyder plays his fantasy game the Redskins are dipping into oblivion.

Doesn't matter what plays are called when your players can't execute. I gotta feeling Holmy will be back in Seattle as the GM.

Snyder did that so he wouldn't have to pay a severence to Zorn, everyone with half a brain knows this. Snyder royally screwed up the coach search, then promoted their OC to HC, when he had never been an OC before... A year and a half later they take away the one thing he was going to be doing...coordinating the offense.
Snyder just doesn't want to pay his coach, he'd rather embarrass him and hope that he quits.
Snyder is a piece of [profane] person and human being.

They have worked together before at both SF and GB. It would be a perfect fit for the west coast offense!!

    Good for Holmgren!
Holmgren coming back to Seattle as GM? F that! Sorry, I know there are a lot of you new Seahawks fans that are used to the Hawks winning. But having Holmgren come back to GM again would be a huge mistake. Holmgren was a bust his first time around as GM.
Maybe Holmgren can land somewhere like the Browns and bring Zorn with him. Sorry but Zorn deserves better treatment than this.

I agree with that Phil M wrote. Snyder will throw away millions to past-their-prime players but now all of a sudden he wants to close his checkbook to the one person who WAS trying to do something positive for the team.
I've been a Skins fan since i was 6 and never have i seen this team in this type of disarray. We can blame the players and the coaches but for once the problem for the Washington Redskins is the front office.
Snyder is a Skins fan who bought his childhood team. And he is running it like his telecomm company and that's ruining the team, the fans, and everything the Skins represented over the past 40 years.
Too bad the NFL can't fire an owner.

I actually thought Zorn did a good job when he initially got the job last year I remember they started out really good beating the Cowboys but they started to collapse at the end of the season. I really think Campbell needs to go he just hasn't done [profane] since he's been there I mean there were some flashes of him being a decent qb but just not consistent enough.

My thoughts exactly. Mr. Holmgren is a well-respected, successful NFL coach, but it doesn't take an expert to point out that Dan Snyder is the village-idiot of NFL owners. I'm a Redskins fan of 30+ years and am sick of the way Dan Snyder is running the team. The Redskins once was a proud franchise until Snyder took over. I have ceased attending Redskins games, ceased buying any Redskins merchandise and have removed the Redskins flag from my house. Until I see a change in leadership at Redskins Park, I have put an embargo on my Redskins fandom.
