A day after being called out by Lane Kiffin, Walker had a a pre-practice meeting with his head coach, the Oakland Tribune reports. Recommendation: Basically Kiffin feels as though it's time for Walker's play to start justifying Oakland's major financial investment in him. Saturday night's exhibition game against the Cardinals, would be a good place to start. "Yeah, I hope so," Kiffin said, when asked if he expected Walker to do well Saturday. "I spoke with him (Sunday) morning about that, about this is a big game for him, even though it's a preseason game...it's Week 3, and he'll play more than he's played in the first two and in the fourth game we don't play our starters hardly at all so, it's a big week for him." |

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin had a recent conversation with WR Javon Walker regarding the importance of having a big performance in the team's third preseason contest. Walker is expected to be a significant part of the offense. "I spoke with him this morning about that, about this is a big game for him, even though it's a preseason game," Kiffin said. "It's Week 3, and he'll play more than he's played in the first two, and in the fourth game we don't play our starters hardly at all. So, it's a big week for him, for himself, and for our quarterbacks throwing, as well." |

WR Javon Walker dropped the first pass thrown his way against the Titans and missed another opportunity for a catch when JaMarcus Russell threw over his head, subjecting him to a shot in the ribs.
But Walker's practice sessions have improved of late and he seemed in good spirits. When Walker floated the idea of retiring early in camp and returning his signing bonus, only to be talked out of it by Al Davis, coach Lane Kiffin conceded he was concerned about the receiver's state of mind. |
