Freeman Get Call to Pilot Buccaneers

—> —> When the Buccaneers reconvened for practice following last week's bye, first-year coach coach Raheem Morris showed players video cutups of things he felt the Bucs did right in the first seven games.

Morri also challenged the offense to become the "lifeline" of a team that has been driven by defense for more than a decade.

It's questionable whether QB Josh Freeman(notes), 21, is ready to man the "lifeline," but he will get his first NFL start Sunday against the Packers. Considering the Bucs are the NFL's last winless team and have already gone through two starting QBs, the short-term expectations won't be steep for Freeman.

"The good thing about him is there's no pressure on him," said former Bucs QB Doug Williams, currently the team's director of pro personnel. "I told him I wish I would have had an opportunity to be in his position, where you didn't have to go out there and put the team on your back from the start."

Freeman doesn't see himself as a savior, but he is well aware of the long-term expectations that come with being a first-round QB. "Obviously that's been brought up to me," Freeman said. "But that's not all that heavy on my mind."

Freeman might not have top WR Antonio Bryant(notes), who has a sore knee and didn't practice Thursday or Friday, available for Green Bay.
