Lions coach hoping Johnson, Smith can play Sunday
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP)—Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz says he’s optimistic that wide receiver Calvin Johnson(notes) and running back Kevin Smith(notes) will play Sunday at Seattle.
Johnson has missed Detroit’s past two games with a sore right knee but practiced all week. Smith, who injured a shoulder in last weekend’s 17-10 loss to St. Louis, missed Wednesday’s practice but took part in workouts Thursday and Friday.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford(notes) was limited in practice this week by a sore right knee but is expected to play against the Seahawks.
The last time Stafford, Johnson and Smith all played together was during the first half of the Lions’ only win of the season, a 25-17 decision over the Washington Redskins on Oct. 26.

They won a game this year, they celebrated now it is over. They had the best shot at a 2nd win last week and could not get it done.
1-15 baby! An upgrade from last year. Pathetic.

You're a moron to think that a college team could beat a pro team. Even the very best college teams only send about 5% of their entire roster (when eligible) to the pro-level. The Lions would win 100 times out of 100 against any college team.
The biggest problem the Lions have is over valuing their own players. Raiola and Backus are back-ups at best. Non-of their DE's are high caliber players. Until the Lions correct the most basic problems (both lines) they will never have a winning team... People forget that the Lions had pro-bowl linemen (Lomas Brown & Kevin Glover) when Barry played - they also had a decent defensive line - and guess what? They actually won games back then. REBUILD THE TRENCHES WITH HIGH ROUND DRAFT PICKS!!!
