Colts list nearly half team on injury report

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—Three-time MVP Peyton Manning(notes) was a limited participant at Colts practice Wednesday because of a backside injury.

Manning has not missed a start in his 12-year career, a streak that is at 201 including playoff games. He was listed as a limited participant one other time this season.

Manning was one of 25 players and 13 starters on the Colts’ long list of injuries.

Left tackle Charlie Johnson(notes) (foot) also was limited at practice. Four starters did not practice at all: WR Reggie Wayne(notes) (foot), DE Dwight Freeney(notes) (abdomen), safety Antoine Bethea(notes) (foot) and cornerback Kelvin Hayden(notes) (knee).

Seven starters on the list did not miss any practice time.

Indy visits Houston on Sunday with a chance to clinch the AFC South title.

I think a few of you are right on the money...Sanders IS mostly questionable as of late, but when he DOES step on the field, the chaos and fear he creates in the eyes of anyone 10 or deeper is worth it's weight in gold, at least until the end of this season. As for jackson, that's all P.R. B.S. and he'll be there if and when needed. Manning's probably finally starting to feel his age on those post-pass "sit-downs"... all the more reason to step up the offensive line next year. Of all the worries that I have with the Colts, look to the D to struggle with the "big guns" injured. We only really need 1 or 2 more to clench the division, but I forsee a REALLY tough time in the Post-Season unless our DB's aren't back to "fighting weight" by the play-offs. At least we won't be playing in Gilette Field...GO COLTS!!!!!

Manning and Brady are the best two best qb's in the NFL?

I would say Manning and Brees, a toss up, Farve #3, Brady maybe #5 or #6.

I know that it feels great when you make a prediction and it comes true, but at the same time, its football. Anything can happen. Just remember all you Pats fans how Burress predicted that the Pats would score 17 points in SB XLII. And how Brady was like...we're only going to score 17 points? LOL. Nope Brady....you only scored 14 actually, Mr. Big Shot. Wish you could have some of the points you had when you were running up the score against your crappy AFC East competition, huh? And that's why I refrain from making predictions, because a football is a strangely shaped object that does crazy things when it hits the ground. You never know who is gonna win when two good teams play.

The Colts will win Sunday, they have been winning without Sanders and they will continue to do so. the two best QB's in the league is none other than Manning and Brady, but for all you Brady fans have you forgotten when they went all the way to the superbowl undefeated and lost to who? another Manning hahahha, you guys never want to give the Colts ANY CREDIT BUT THERE is no denying that they are a great football TEAM and if manning is given time he will pick you apart. so lets just be honest Manning is the best and always will be the best.

And just remember any team can win or lose on any given sunday.

    GO! BIG BLUE BABY!!!!

Bob Sanders is turning into Mike Brown formally of the Bears. Great player when healthy, but misses too much time.

jefflowe1988, you have a good reason for logging off, right now- THIS IS A TROLL-FREE MESSAGE BOARD, AND YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO READ OR POST ANYTHING!!! LB, you need to shut the hell up and log off, too. The Colts are always ready for any situation. Melvin Bullitt will be the main reason for them winning, tomorrow. This season has been mostly about Bullitt- he makes his presence known when he has to. GO BLUE!!!

Indy's backups would start on any other team. They have already proven their worth in the absence of the starters. I am impressed with both rookie corners and Bullit is only a slight downgrade from Sanders.

The Colts should cut Sanders, he's one of the worst players in the league. In 6 seasons he's played more then 6 games...twice, that is pathetic. He should give the Colts a refund for not doing his job!

Its sad Mr. RD that you insist to use fantasy stats to state that Shaub is the #1 QB. You would be laughed out of any room if you said that to anyone who knows anything about the game. As for Andre i can agree with you there.

i watched the pats recently and said who the f are these guys! no vrable , no seymore, no bruski how in the hell do pats fans think they can win a superbowl without these guys!! forget the pats anyway the steelers are still the defending champs and are better then last year. punting was terrible last year and so was the kick return game back this year is supelveda punting the hell out of the ball and logan is a threat to go the distance each time he touches the ball! remember you heard it here the steelers beat vikings in the superbowl

Houston and Patriot fans. What excuses are you really talking about. Those players hardly even took a snap this year. I think you guys know that, and you are starting to make excuses. Matt L. I agree with you. Now there is a Patriot fan that really knows what he's talking about for the most part. Not too damb@#$%y at least you show a little respect. Mr RD you may have the #1 QB, But who is the Better out of the two. Ha ha yeah thats what i thought. Also what has A.Johnson done that Wayne hasn't already done. Both game are gonna be great games win or lose. Good luck to you all.

Thats a huge loss, Manning will have to carry the colts even more.

Indy should be use to not having Sanders, He's a good player, when he plays. The guy's a biscuit. Crumbles if he's hit to hard.

I'm a life long Patriots fan and it ALWAYS comes down to the Patriots , colts and steelers and this year is NO DIFFERENT. When was the last time Indy has gone to NE 2006 reg season?

Manning is to good to count them out. Like Brady, if you give him ANY time, your gonna lose.

Instead of adding a fourth TE, wouldn't the Colts be better served adding another DB. It might be time for Sanders to retire. He can't go more than two weeks w/o injuring himself.
