Chargers release WR Chris Chambers
SAN DIEGO (AP)—The San Diego Chargers have released wide receiver Chris Chambers(notes) a day after he had a key catch in a 24-16 win over the Oakland Raiders.
Coach Norv Turner said the Chargers released Chambers because of the emergence of Malcom Floyd(notes) and the need to sign a linebacker because of an injury to Tim Dobbins(notes) on Sunday.
Chambers was demoted Sunday in favor of Floyd, yet still had a big catch in the win over the Raiders, which lifted the Chargers to 4-3.
Chambers was obtained at the trading deadline in 2007 from Miami for a second-round draft pick, and helped the Chargers reach the AFC championship game that season.
His production dropped off dramatically this season.

I hope you are right...I was upset when Miami got rid of him...I hope he comes back home!!!! We could use him. People are saying he is done...well they said that about Jason Taylor too...and while he is not the defensive player of the year, he is leading the team in Sacks, has a fumble recovery for a touchdown, has forced at least two fumbles himself and has done a pretty damn good job for someone who is "done". I say bring him back and give him a chance. He might not be a gamebreaker, but he comes with no off the field issues, and if nothing else helps the box not get stacked against us on every play. Not to mention hes motivated to show he isnt done and avenge being released...no one likes that kind of embarrasment...look what Teddy did after just a benching... All in all I say bring him back home.
