Browns owner sickened by losing
CLEVELAND (AP)—Browns owner Randy Lerner says he is “sick” about the state of his NFL team but he will not make a coaching change.
Cleveland dropped to 1-7 after Sunday’s 30-6 loss in Chicago. Afterward, an upset Lerner told the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Akron Beacon-Journal that he would not fire coach Eric Mangini during the club’s bye week. Lerner did say he would like to bring in a “strong, credible, serious leader” to help run his team.
Lerner did not expand on who that person might be or if that person currently worked for the Browns. He recently brought in former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar in an unspecified consulting role.

As for the Browns having talent, every team has talent---they just don't have much, that's all I'm saying. Somebody took my comments to the extreme, as usual. I feel that they had two TOP playmakers on DEFENSE, now one is on the IR (D JACKSON)--the other obviously is ROGERS. Once again: I love the Defensive Coordinator--look what he's done with 1 playmaker, imagine what he could do with more?? I'm not talking about being last in the league because our offense can't hold the ball more than 3 plays each time out--I mean, damn people, get a clue. The "D" is on the field all day long! They are the only thing keeping us in the game (at least the first half of games) most of this year.
One guy earlier said that a good coach works with very little. Well then, get off of Mangini's SACK, because he must be then be considered a great coach since he has been working with NOTHING. People talk about the JETS players--these people (although most average players) are still better than the players they replaced. That is the one of the problems, but most can't see this at all. They just know they were Jets last year, period. Well, I happen to like most of them--for now, because I KNOW they are better than the players they replaced on this team, SIMPLE as that. I'm not talking trades either, I'm talking positions!
As for the guy commenting on the draft issues. Hell yeah, I feel that our coach did very well, especially when the only thing we had was 4 picks to begin with. I wanted some of the other players too, but I'm very happy with Mack and the two WR's we got in the second round. I would have drafted 2 Linebackers in the second round, but that is me. So, in a sense I agree with the theory, but watch these WR's first. I mean, Mangini could only fill so many holes with a few picks and signings. WE NEED OFFENSE!!!!! When your playmakers on offense are J. Lewis and 3 lineman from the center left--we are in trouble. Put QUINN in and start throwing to these young receivers. I agree with a screen or two to Cribbs, but not every time he's on the field. He also needs to play Free Safety in my opinion.
All of you people wanting Cribbs to play offense: what has he done on offense?? Any TD catches as a WR? Any TD runs from the Cribcat? Any TD passes? For the most part, all he does is run. We should reconstruct his contract and let him play Free Safety and return kicks for us, period. The guy is by far our best special teamer, he could tackle a train, and he could be returning interceptions for us instead of sitting on the bench hoping the other team don't score.
One last thing! I like McDaniels, he's from my hometown, but the guy comparing him to Mangini now is funny. It's easier now to down Lerner (since Lerner didn't hire him), because of the Browns current situation. Like ANYONE in the world thought he would do so well so fast?? I am happy for him, but I don't think Mangini is less of a coach. Geeeesh!

The Clowns are a joke and this just confirms it. I guess Mangenius is now president of football operationsas if he werent before. Mr. Lerner you dont know what you are doing. If you are a true Browns fan, sell the team now to somebody who knows what they are doing. Please!!!!

SHOCKING! But true.
Have you ever heard of Ohio State? They've had some pretty bad chokes in the high profile situations. 2007 Buckeyes anyone? 2008?

The balls they dropped accounted for the point difference in 99 percent of the games the Browns lost. They both have hands made of stone. Is it any surprise with the way he drops balls that Edwards went to Michigan? Going from the biggest choke team in college football to the worst team in the history of pro football was a natural move for him. And WInslow just doesn't have time to waste dedicating himself to being a football player. Too bad. He actually had potential.
And by the way, the last I looked neither of them have been a factor for their new teams. Cleveland sucks but those two strokers couldn't catch a cold. Mediocre NFL receivers have more yards in a month than either of those two have in their careers.
But the idiots that think Edwards and Winslow are good football players are also Browns fans. That alone tells us they have no knowledge about anything related to PROFESSIONAL football.

since you live in Ohio, and are a die-hard steelers fan, then I take it you are a bandwagon jumper. You must only follow teams once they start winning. Let me guess, you are a Laker's fan, and last year you were a Phillies fan, but now are a Yankees fan. No way!! But hey I guess if you need to feel good about yourself and can not be a true fan then just jump on the bandwagon. I will always be a Browns fan. But I agree it is ridiculous and our owner needs to go before we will even think about being good.

but i knew as soon as i heard manginius was hired that i might actually live to hate my home team called the browns.
i never thought i would actually thinl they are the rock bottom frnachise in the nfl but right now i humbly believe they are indeed the worst team top down, right from lerner on down.
ill check in in 5 years to see if its worth wasting another minute of time thinking about this organization.
too bad it had to happen in the lebron era. would have been nice to have the browns be respectable while lebron is around.
